Especially when you consider what Atwood talks about outside the book (as in her political views). I was just pointing out the book can be pretty good, so try to enjoy it :) Sorry you have to got through it, but when you get to Uni it will me much better! Don't listen to your teacher, Atwood was criticising the Bible/the Church, not necessarily males (because the females go along fine with it too).
