Nobody ever says girls are smart. they understand than probably around 90% of those who obtain the degrees (and Yes Virginia even "advanced" degrees, even "PhD's") don't have anything more than a rote level of understanding of the subject... and that only a small minority of around 10% actually gain the deeper/fuller understanding.
