I stumbled upon this thread while frolicking around reddit but, as a fellow female med student who's in a wonderful relationship with a physician (and I'd like to say, we started dating in my first year), I'd just like to say that actually doctor + doctor marriages have lower divorce rates than doctor + non-doctor marriages. Mostly because there's more likely to be a mutual understanding with one another. Not to toot my own horn, but I didn't have any dating issues in the beginning of med school…

At first, I lurked around RPW a lot because I agreed with a lot of their ideas (like pleasing your partner, because it's good for the relationship; give up the need to constantly be right; etc etc), but after awhile I realized what they stood for is pretty much what people in normal, healthy relationships do, but without the self-blaming. I also came to realize that (probably due to the moderating) a lot of the content just repeated itself because oftentimes new ideas aren't welcomed (unlike in …

I think the issue is that while a situation like point B is very possible, it is oftentimes much more complicated than simply which person calls the shots. I think a normal, healthy, balanced relationship should have both partners taking into account the other person's desires as well as their own (and the state of the relationship). Also, oftentimes people can't "have it all" at once, but usually can get everything they want in the future (unless there's some serious conflicting ideologies, in …

Contrary to popular opinion, I kind of think Stiviano is the one who looks bad. She entered this transaction/relationship with Sterling herself. I personally don't judge people who enter these types of relationships as long as both parties are aware of the terms ahead of time. If she entered the relationship with him for financial reasons, and he for her good looks, then those are the terms defined. I think by publicly leaking their audio conversation and essentially "biting the hand that feeds …

I think TRP tends to overblow the whole older, successful men are going to get with these young, nubile and not-yet-tainted women. For example... They always talk about how the "high status doctor/surgeon" is going to marry the younger and fresher 23 year old... But it's common knowledge and often quoted that most doctors end up marrying other doctors. Why? Because unless they were already married before entering school, you spend so much time with your classmates and you're pretty much confined…

Purely anecdotal here but... My physics professor at school is relatively young (early 30's? not sure), but he is married to a woman who is decently good looking, and is also a physics professor at one of the top math and science universities in the nation. They also have a 2 year old kid. She is on a tenure-track I think, while he is looking for a tenure track position. My professor isn't awkward or anything at all--if anything I suspect most of my female classmates have some sort of crush on h…

To be fair, although these actors' looks have declined over the years, they still look better than the average man.. Just like the female celebrities who are older (like penelope cruz, gabrielle union etc) also in general look better than the average woman....

Ha..my dad's an engineer and he's always cautioned me not to be drawn into the high starting salary because he says usually if an engineer isn't moving up the corporate ladder and eventually into management (which supposedly is 1/20), he's probably going to be unemployed around his 40's, when younger, cheaper and more up to date fresh engineers are just out of school for hire will replace him. Similar to the wall the TRP talks about.

I find that girls tend to be much more discriminate of others who are "uncool" and "nerdy". Therefore, I think most girls who care about what others think will be inclined to either hide their interest, or change their interest in such subjects. The nerds I remember at my high school seemed to just stop caring what others thought of them--like as if they gave up. These are probably the same guys that chose the STEM subjects since they were already outsiders to begin with. I think it is probably …

Even in some of the highest performing academic high schools in the US (having attended one back in the day), STEM subjects were NOT cool. It wasn't cool to be the kid who loved building robots or doing math problems. I think American culture in general has glamourized certain career paths and subjects while creating a "stereotype" of others. For example, corporate and business careers are shown in a much more relatable way through media whereas the STEM majors are usually portrayed as nerdy, so…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
