I wasn’t taught much about cleaning or keeping a home. I learned a tiny bit about cooking. I was always told my education was more important than worrying about chores. My grandmother, a lifelong housewife, would do it all and wouldn’t let anyone help. As an adult, I’ve had to learn most of these skills. Now that I’m in my mid-thirties I can do all of the household management things at professional levels (seriously, it’s a real job that goes far beyond cleaning). It was an uphill battle to hone…

You raise an excellent point. The girl who gets the speciality treatment for being a “catch” is still getting a trash guy because it’s the same guy who justifies treating someone he plans to marry like that because she’s not as hot as he would like. The hotter girl just gets to witness him wearing a mask for a little while.

“. . .accept the truth that many men are spiritually bankrupt.” This is actually something I’ve noticed in a lot of church circles of varying denominations. The women will always be the ones going out of their way to read the Bible daily, set spiritual goals, do study groups. The level of involvement and practice from women is often far beyond that of men in the same church group. And often in faith based marriage groups, even co-ed ones, it is usually women complaining about their husband’s lac…

Number 14 is highly ironic given that number 11 is literally diagnostic criteria for a serious mental illness.

Honestly though, the grossest first date I ever went on was with a guy who dropped a bunch on money on a nice dinner. He ended up giving off major creeper vibes and expected me to go home with him because he spent so much on the date. I didn’t go home with him and never spoke to him again. There were multiple casual first dates that I have had though that I enjoyed much more than that, even if they didn’t evolve into a relationship.

I don’t think it’s just MENA men. Back when I was in the dating pool, Christian men would do this too. They play all trad-con and churchy but then try to ask sexual questions or make off-color sexual jokes before ever even establishing there is real potential there. And obviously that kills it right there because it’s gross.

What’s amazing is that so many women disrespect other women and have as much disdain for them as men do. So, I guess we really are the lowest when our own gender despises each other. How can men possibly love or respect women when we denigrate and degrade each other still as if we deserved the crap treatment all along? It was a new lesson a I learned today here at FDS. Even women who supposedly support empowerment victim blame and degrade and excuse men of their culpability just as much as the m…

You act like I never fell in love with the man, which would be false. I never felt so in love with anyone I had dated. You also act like he wasn’t leading me on about his changed heart until he was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to back out easily. You ignore the fact that perhaps he was wrong to lie to me and our premarital counselor for a prolonged period of time about how he was undergoing a conversion of heart. It’s all me being desperate but not him being manipulative or deceitful or trying…

I think asking about porn habits should be a normal part of getting to know someone before deciding to sleep with them. Just ask casually without any lead up so they can’t censor themselves as easily. Note: This may get something closer to an honest answer during dating if they don’t already know your stance on it. I would also assume that any admission of use could be an underestimate.

The only Christian men you should consider are the ones who tell you that Ephesians chapter 5 is meant to be an exhortation predominantly to sexist men that they are to treat their wives with more love and dignity than society at the time required them to. Run like hell from fundamentalists. Those men often want to use literal interpretations devoid of historical or spiritual context to control people and abdicate themselves from responsibility towards growth.

I am well aware of what reproductive technology options are but I am a faithful, practicing Catholic. We believe children should be conceived within the bounds of marriage where they know both of their parents. Alternatively, adoption is a valid option if a couple can’t have kids biologically. All children should be treated as blessings and gifts, regardless of circumstances. Children conceived through IVF are still to be loved and cherished, but practicing Catholics are not supposed to utilize …

This needs to blasted everywhere. Too many women just don’t get it. Free sex doesn’t make a man value you.

This post triggered me. 😂 (I am laughing so I don’t cry.) My husband is in this field. You can see my comment history for his views on children. This past Christmas he scheduled a vasectomy reversal for this spring because he knows I desperately want a baby and I don’t have that many years left. A Catholic priest said it would be immoral and unconscionable for us to have a child together...which is a rather shocking thing for a priest to tell a married couple. It about sums up how much value is …

Amazingly, among those who told me I have a masculine mentality about sex was an actual mental health professional. She said it was because of the emphasis I place on sex being good for me and because for me it helps me feel closer to someone I trust enough to sleep with. Apparently a more feminine take is to be less concerned with pleasure and to only be able to enjoy sex physically when I am already feeling emotionally close in my relationship. Personally though, I think the message that only …

My husband does all of these things. Just means he can be a functional room mate. Doesn’t make him good at the love and intimacy and mutual respect marriage requires. And yet, I am aware how much more he does than many men out there.

I had this arrangement with my husband too. I was kept under the impression he was recovering from his addiction and he was comfortable with me having access to everything. He was still using it but hiding it in incognito browsers among other ways. He lied to my face about it for three whole years. He even lied to our priest during a year of premarital counseling/marriage prep. Always be on the lookout. Addicts can be highly adept at hiding things and are more comfortable lying to loved ones tha…

The statistics say 95% of men watch porn at least once a year. 80% of men are porn addicts. The OP asked a valid question. How in the actual heck do you find the top 5% of males and how can you ever be 100% sure they aren’t just lying? Porn addicts can hide this stuff for years and it’s not beneficial to women to wait to find out until they’ve already had sex.

This is all true. It hurts, but it is true. Even the OLD dating comparison. My husband loved window shopping so much. To him it did provide similar thrill to flipping through NSFW Reddits with hundreds of naked women. The OLD was just a way to potentially get to actually touch the “object” in view. The lying is what really does me in though. I can deal with someone who is imperfect and honestly trying to better themselves of their own accord. I can’t deal with someone who is at ease lying to my …

It’s bad enough she’s receiving this kind of treatment...it’s even worse that she’s smiling about it on the internet. I see why this makes it to the hall of fame. 😂 I enjoy cooking and get gratification from cooking for other people, including my husband. I’m even guilty of posting my culinary creations on social media sometimes. But there isn’t a single person in my life though that calls me a bitch. I won’t even mingle with friend groups that normalize that kind of name calling because I figur…

Frankly, the stereotype that women don’t like sex irks me and reeks of misogyny and a Madonna/whore complex when people say it. I love having gratifying sex. I love having orgasms and am very comfortable in my sexuality. However, I get told this makes me masculine in how I view sex because apparently women can’t actually enjoy it and remain women. 🙄

Yes! The Madonna/Whore complex dehumanizes both of the woman because neither is seen a whole being. To be a husband a man has to be able to unify this conceptualization of women to be able to see them as valuable people existing in both spheres, wherein indulging the sexual doesn’t erode the virtue in the man’s mind. Nor do her elements of softness and femininity make her less desirable. I think it is rare to meet a man who actually has it under control.

Yeah...given the stats on porn usage, I am pretty sure that once I exit my marriage I will be a WGTOW. There is such a small shot of ever finding a guy who isn’t a slave to these addictions and disordered passions.

Funny how it sounds like he is being sweet but is really degrading her personhood. Master level back-handed compliment he’s got going on right there. I bet he gave himself a pat on the back for speaking so highly of his artwork...I mean wife.

Keeping your government happy is literally one of the worst reasons to decide to marry. It’s always distasteful to me when State agencies try to guilt trip people into marriage for the sake of patriotism. So much no.

He complained about how women were just after men for their resources. Said that women who were mothers, nannies, preschool teachers, doulas etc were wasting their lives and there children were parasites. He stated any woman he slept with would need an abortion if they got pregnant because he wasn’t having kids. He called his ex crazy, his coworkers incompetent, and most people stupid. He also mocked single mothers and mocked me because I took longer to finish college because I was doing it as a…

Wow...I feel this. My husband lied to his parents for four years after he left a high paying job for a more modest one following two patients dying because he couldn’t resolve an issue. He’s back on the horse so to speak, but he lied to his parents for years about having taken a break from that field. He also lied to them about going to church every week. I don’t know why I thought this meant he wouldn’t lie to me too...but I found out recently he’s been lying to me for years. Cue surprised Pika…

He needs to find someone other than the assault victim to talk to about how hard it is to see someone you care about assaulted. He is making it about himself instead of providing appropriate support and seeking it for himself. Guys should be called out on this.

Here is the easy answer...there are way fewer HVM than women. BUT the average woman isn’t holding out for the HVM. She will settle for the gas station cashier with a cute smile and hot tribal tattoo because “true love”. So, there is always going to be more competition for HVMs but most woman will ultimately eliminate themselves from the game.
