Yes it is used in that way. However, I believe suppressed male energy often comes out in toxic ways

I don't think it's fair to expect 'extreme gratefulness' from a child

My mom sitting next to your mom while you cook and sarcastically saying: oh poor little kid has to cook on his own? What a brave hero you are

Imagine an island with one man and a hundred women. The man can make 100 babies with relative ease. Now we have 100 men and a woman. The woman can only reproduce about once a year. She has to be very careful whose genes she is gonna allow in her child. She will pick the best mating partner possible. Who can build the best shelter, hunt the most deer, in the modern day: who has the most money? Look up hypergamy and Briffaults law

He used a rhetorical kind of thingy stuff. He misunderstood you purposefully. You meant 'why is there a social expectancy for men to pay for food?' but you said 'why do I have to?' he pointed out that you don't have to do anything, you get to choose and you should free yourself from that kind of conventions

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
