Because procreating was the ultimate goal for most of human history. Replicate as the end goal of existence is hard wired into us. It's what helped the human race not get wiped out.... It's gonna take a while for us to realize that we're good with population now... we don't need to make having kids as the main reward in life anymore. Things take time to change.

Good points. I honestly like the idea of getting married some day if I find someone amazing and always thought a good prenup would help alleviate a lot of these potential issues but I'm learning that prenups are not enough

Yup. Most of our problems are due to the fact we basically have caveman brains and live in a modern world. No kids not in an expensive area- you'll be fine with 50k. You can always earn more with side hustles/advancements. Once you hit the 70k range anything more you make doesn't really make you happier. There have been studies on this. Money doesn't make you happy. Being poor makes you miserable though so just focus on not being poor- and at 50-60k you're already not poor so you're in good shape!

I used to do this AFTER I got dumped. While I was dating someone I'd be kinda meh but like them. I'd get dumped and then the grass is suddenly always greener and I'd imagine all this shit I just lost.... Yeah. You can totally create mental prisons for yourself. Good advice, OP
