I realized that when I'm with my friends I'm really talkative and making jokes all the time. If they're not around, I usually stay quiet. Ah, thank you, that is really helpful. I'm like you, I prefer places like malls and restaurants during the day over going to bars and clubs at night. I ask because I force myself to go to bars (I don't even drink) just to give myself the opportunities to talk to new people. Dude, I'm sure you can find someone with a fat belly who's got a girlfriend you wouldn't mind having. Most of the dudes I see with smoking hot girls are larger, don't appear to work out, and have a much bigger gut than me. Saw two examples today in fact. Unless you were getting tons of girls and that suddenly stopped once you got a belly, then honestly it's probably not your belly that's holding you back but your attitude.

Your comment is blatantly hypocritical, in my opinion. You, and everyone that agrees with you say that men are almost universally better at sports than women and hold a natural advantage. writing well is as important as speaking well. None of us are perfect at grammar and one or two mistakes is forgivable, but seriously, after the fourth or fifth time, yeah, OP should definitely brush up on his poor grammar. I took joe's comment to be a kind reminder or a genuine question, but perhaps he was being a sarcastic ass. I don't know.

damn, my faith in this subreddit is restored. I was pretty bitter, not b/c this girl said no, but b/c I wasn't sure what to do afterward. it seemed like a very negative experience overall (except that my friends were really impressed after, which i guess was a plus) anyway, thanks for the advice. that would also be a great reason to approach a group of girls rather than to try and cut one from the herd, which is what I tend to want to do. that's one of the most helpful pieces of advice i've hear…

I honestly could not think of a single positive thing about it going awkwardly, but you're right. What's more important is to just get it out of the way, rather than let it gnaw on you wondering what could've happened. the only thing standing in the way from making it happen is your own ego, and while i've kind of disagreed with what's been said about men's ego's on here so far, I have to say it all makes sense now. thanks dude!

Well, at least I'm not the only one to have noticed then. At first it was just very subtle sexism which is pretty common these days and I kind of rolled my eyes. Well, that would have made for an extremely long post, but... Like I said, in almost every other episode there is a broad statement that starts "men (have) always..." oppressed women somehow (the maid usually says this). Seriously, count how many times you here the phrase "all men" in that show and tell me how much shit I'd catch if I used the phrase "all women" that much. I'm still on the first season myself, 3 episodes left. What put me over the top was the maid's speech to the wife about "The Yellow Wallpaper" So over the top and so completely unfair. sigh i was hoping it died down in the second season. guess not.

Interesting. I hit on a girl at the movie theaters who happened to be working there. Needless to say it was awkward, but hey I went for it just like everyone says to. How bad could it be, right?
