3	Breaking the friendzone... from the other perspective. 5 years is a pretty long time of inactivity, therefore you should be the one to initiate. I was in a very similar position for a while and I know how hard it is when there are mixed signals. You seem to be mostly in control of the relationship and he seems shy and does not want to hurt you so therefore control the relationship and put it in the direction you want it to go.
