the "Fuck off and die," part

There are cases where police act wrongly. No one disagrees with that. Certainly you can contribute something more useful to argue your point.

a slate article and a free thought blog? Certainly you can contribute something more useful to argue your point.

My opinion of you is lowered by your response here. Certainly you could of found different avenues to express your discontent with the above posters opinion.

So he killed a 'group of cells' and got 14 years, even though millions of women kill a 'group of cells' every year with no punishment at all. Questionable logic

I disagree, should we sit here all day arguing whether the analogy is good or not? Or maybe we should just talk about the main point OP is making.

no, the analogy is GREAT because it portrays the point well. The truth of it is IRRELEVANT. It doesn't matter if black people don't actually commit the majority of crime, the analogy is saying if they did, it wouldn't make sense to say this. Your failure to see that, and instead focus on an unimportant aspect of it is troubling.

his analogies are fine, what he's saying is making perfect sense, you're just looking at it the wrong way. This is what he's saying. Say in America 55% of theft was by non-white people. Should the dictionary definition of theft say theft is typically done by non-white people? If you're a reasonable person, I'm sure you'd agree.

Assume there are two matches. One is 2 hours, the other is 4 hours. They have the exact same viewership. From TV ratings, the longer match is going to make TWICE as much as the other one. That's the whole point. It doesn't matter if they don't specifically watch it because its longer. The point is, people watch it for longer, thus making more money. You can sit there and say that it still, "has almost nothing to do with" revenue but that would be a tremendous stretch of truth. I'm pretty sure th…

Now you're statement isn't a straight up contradiction, so that's good. Although I would say the relationship qualifies far more than a "has almost nothing to do with." You can just look at the TV revenue ratings and see for yourself.

But the pay rate has absolutely nothing to do with how long their matches last. That's what you said. I explained to you how they are related. You don't disagree. So which statement of yours would you like to retract? As you said above, the players should be payed based on how much money they bring in. Since longer matches bring in more money (as I explained above, which you don't disagree) therefore the pay rate is related to how long the matches are on average.

"That's hardly worth mentioning" Ok, care to show any data that the extra time that men play adds such a little amount of revenue that it's hardly worth mentioning? I'm sure you won't. An extra hour of a final where millions of people are watching would substantially increase revenue.
/r/MensRights21/01/14 01:24 AM

Um well since revenue is tied to TV time, the 3 set match is more likely to make less revenue than a 5 set match. Thus the time they play and how much they get paid is related.

I'm a big tennis fan, and it bothers me that men and women are paid the same. I think this is a good example of feminist ideals gone too far. Women make 30% or less of the combined leagues profit (I saw that figure somewhere, not sure how accurate). This would make sense, women's matches are shorter and certainly garner much less interest. A lot of the TV ratings for women's matches come from the lack of a mens alternative. I think very few people would choose to watch a womens match over a mens…

It was in college, but she didn't really endorse the idea. She just said, some people choose the market cost approach in valuing housework, and then showed us the site.

This reminds me of the time in my women in the U.S. economy class where we talked about how much a mother should be paid. This one site the teacher showed us said mothers should be paid 140k a year. They got this figure by multiplying the market rate of the job they were doing by the amount of hours they work of it. For example, women are often the head of the household, and they spend 4 hours a week doing related activities. Since the average ceo pay is 180000 dollars, the value of a womans wor…

We are talking about this article and title ix in my next class period, and I would love to hear from you guys exactly why title ix is unfair. I'm pretty sure I got the jist of it but I would love to hear it in your words and see if i'm missing anything. Myth #2 is especially what we're focusing on.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
