I would've thought a nice person would care about annoying someone else? Just, you know out of courtesy? Do unto others and all that.

A cool way of doing resolutions I saw my friend do is to write 12 different resolutions on pieces of paper. Something simple, maybe just "Keep in touch with Jim," "Eat more exotic food," "Read 3 books," just little goals for what you want to do. Each month you pull one out and try to do that. That way it's little, short term goals for yourself that you can work into your routine. Little steps, rather than overwhelming yourself with a whole lot to do, or aiming for something vague like "Get fit."…

If that's what's implied it's not at all what I meant! What I mean is I despise everything about the sex industry. That doesn't mean the people within it are inherently flawed. I could absolutely see myself in a relationship with a prostitute or porn actor, if I liked them, just as I could see myself with a teacher, or lawyer, or nurse, or accountant, if I liked them. The job doesn't change that at all. The only reason I hadn't mentioned them was because I haven't personally met anyone involved …

If I was into them, liked their personality and things, I don't see why not. I've got friends who are strippers, and they are some of the kindest, most selfless girls I know. It just so happens they worked out they can get paid very very well to take their clothes off. I have very mixed feelings about the whole sex industry, as I think even if someone has a whole lot of self respect and their head screwed on right and they're just in there for easy money, it's a whole industry that feeds off ins…

I genuinely couldn't get through that album. The fact that there are people who live in this world that can think in such revolting, manipulative, derogatory and discriminatory ways sickens me.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is "laid with women" because he seems like a reasonable person. My point is that it doesn't seem reasonable to give someone shit for not supplying points and focusing on one thing when the person he was talking to brought absolutely nothing to his side of the argument. Just seems a little hypocritical to me.

Don't have a dog in this particular fight, but he hadn't brought any counter evidence to the "plenty of nice 'bp' men" point. Sure, he had a survey and divorce stats, but none of it in any way actually related to bp or rp. He interpreted it that way, but nothing in any of those stats provided a basis for that interpretation.

Jesus christ. When there is just mountains of evidence to contradict all of those supposed points about female inferiority, I can't understand how people can still think like that. 150 years later. I just don't understand.

Please stop saying "men aren't attracted to your college degrees" as though you speak for everyone. Part of what makes someone attractive to me is intelligence and hard work, which a college degree shows. I am not just attracted to looks, youth and chastity. Many men don't believe what you believe. So please don't lump me in with your backwards way of thinking.

"Youth, beauty and submission better." That literally made my skin crawl. And I really do mean literally.

I think it says society has looked at how men and women should view sex very differently. To say there is a double standard when it comes to sex between the two genders would be a massive understatement. When you're living in a society that has primarily viewed women as chaste, delicate girls then mothers and home makers there has never been room for there to be much casual sex for them, whereas men have been able to do pretty much whatever and whoever they want with no repercussions. This is ch…

It's repulsive. Absolutely repulsive. Saying that sexual abuse is fine because it's what the woman owes the man. It disgusts me on every level.

I am fine with relationships where someone is exchanging sex for money/some sort of value, as long as both people are 100% aware, willing, and happy with what's happening. As long as someone is happy, they can do whatever they want (as long as it's not infringing on anyone else.) I mean I would never be in a relationship like that, that doesn't appeal to me. But rape means someone isn't happy. If it needs to be forced. The kind of thinking this guy is talking about repulses me on a base level.

Sure, so far in society that has been the case. But I think to ignore all the societal influence upon that is ridiculous. In my experience in the world it's fairly even. Sure, probably leaning a little towards to men wanting more. But not significantly. And this is absolutely anecdotal, I will be the first to admit that. But to act like relationships now are and should be exactly like relationships 50, 100, 200 years ago is ludicrous. Society has changed, peoples roles within it has changed, and…

Ok, could you please help me reason it out? Instead of not answering the questions? I genuinely want to understand why you think that, I just can't fathom it personally.

So yes. Someone can rape someone else, but it's not rape because they're married. How does that logic work?

So you genuinely think a husband could force himself upon his wife, having sex with her when she didn't want it, and he would be in the right?

Absolutely, you're entitled to want whatever you want. I just don't see why you wouldn't want someone who could be both. To me that's ideal. That's all. But hey, props to you man. Hope you find/have found someone that fits all of that and is happy with it. (That's genuine there, I'm not being petty.)

Because I genuinely don't understand that line of thought. To me, the person I'm in a relationship with should be one of my best friends. I'm spending the majority of my time with them, I'm trusting them with all of my thoughts, weaknesses, strengths, vices, fears, hopes, dreams. I'm going to be there for them when they need help, when they are hurt, and I expect them to do the same for me. I'm looking to spend the rest of my life with them. Why shouldn't they be my best friend? Isn't that exact…

Why can't they be both? What is stopping you from being in a relationship with someone who you get on with as a friend? Sure you might want them to compliment you, like if you both suck at laundry that won't be fun, if you love the theatre and she hates it that won't be fun, but why can't they be a friend as well as a wife? Why does it need to be either or?

That's what I see as being one of the issues. That men base the success of their relationship off whether their SO is putting out. It ignores every other aspect of the relationship and makes the worth of the human being they're with a vagina. And this all comes back to the idea that men want sex more than women, which I don't think is true. In my experience, as with everything, some men want sex more, some women want sex more. It's all about the worth and value you're placing on different things…

Well when you insinuated I was downvoting you I wanted to clear that up. Sorry for trying to show I respect your opinions. With your friends do you look for things that you like in a person? Do you make friends with people because you like their personality and humour? Do you have common interests? Why is it different with a relationship? People are different. They will act similarly, sure, based on their backgrounds and experiences. But to say all women will do this because they are women. I do…

I'm a man, so I think I have a fair understanding of the importance of sex. I just don't necessarily put as much importance on it as other men. I mean don't get me wrong, sex is great. I frickin love sex. But there's so much more to relationships than sex. Sex is easy to get. It's all the other stuff that I put more value in.

I haven't downvoted any of your posts, I very rarely downvote in general. Hiding the other persons voice doesn't do anything for the conversation. Or they get these feelings because, you know, they like them. They like their personality, their humour, they can talk about things they find interesting. You know. Engage each other as people. It's not true. It's not. I know that I'm clearly not going to change your mind at all about this, but I'll stand by that. It's not true. People are all differe…

I have absolutely no issue with someone getting into a relationship aiming to get some sort of monetary wealth, or social status. Of course people get into relationships for reasons, I'm not going to judge their reasons. I just resent the implication that those sort of reasons are the only real ones, that because you enjoy spending time with them and like them isn't a valid reason. AWALT is one of the most frustrating things to me. Because it's simply not true. To say that all of one group is ex…

You can't put all of that on women being fickle. For one, they are no more fickle than men. You know, on account of us all being people and all that. Maybe the way they sometimes get treated as a sex and home care object is what can lead to them detesting the person they're with. Maybe if they're treated with the respect you should give to someone you see as your equal and that you like then that wouldn't happen. That seems to work for plenty of people.

Or people could get into long term relationships with people that they like as people, that they enjoy spending time with, not just someone they want to have sex with. That seems to work for plenty of people who lead fulfilling lives with meaningful relationships where they view other humans as humans rather than assets.
