UK: The horrific Fool Me Once-style nanny-cam footage that exposed an abusive wife. A husband threatened with a knife, beaten and cowering in a foetal position during wife's 20-year reign of terrorThis podcast was super eye opening at how male victims of domestic abuse really face an uphill battle in getting justice. https://open.spotify.com/episode/1SricgkJGKW0lRz7VS0JxS?si=RLM3D7LaTniWyvY640rn0Q Super disturbing. | /r/MensRights | 15/03/24 09:49 PM
Why Men Are Falling Behind in EducationThis. In the UK during covid, we switched from traditional exams etc. To grades being given by teachers, there is no other logical reason for boys overall to perform worse than girls in this context. Before it’s always been hidden behind “girls are better at exams” https://open.spotify.com/episode/1HeuB8W1S2hdaxkP8315fQ?si=6p2mTwmPROqZYHJ188Ah4w - this podcast covered the topic really well. | /r/MensRights | 07/01/23 03:56 PM
| -2 | Man spends 3 months in jail over rape claim, during which time his brother dug up text messages on accuser’s friend’s phone that showed she planned to frame him after breakup. No jail time for the accuser!?I think it’s one of those things where there isn’t an ideal solution, so we just have to work with something that’s kind of the most likely to work in the best way most of the time. I agree there should be more protection for the accused, but on the flip side, there does need to be transparency around who is being arrested and why. The problem with our discussing cases like this, is that we don’t have access to the full evidence / testimony, so we can only speculate on the vague reporting of wha… | /r/MensRights | 02/02/18 02:06 AM |
Man spends 3 months in jail over rape claim, during which time his brother dug up text messages on accuser’s friend’s phone that showed she planned to frame him after breakup. No jail time for the accuser!?Not a legal expert - but I imagine they had enough evidence to meet the threshold where he would be remanded in custody pending further investigation. The purpose of remand is to protect the public / victim until there is enough evidence to charge. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/18 12:37 AM
Man spends 3 months in jail over rape claim, during which time his brother dug up text messages on accuser’s friend’s phone that showed she planned to frame him after breakup. No jail time for the accuser!?I imagine this falls into a bit of a limbo. He wasn’t cleared of the charge, it was decided that there was not enough evidence to charge him. This case is different to similar stories of late, as in other circumstances the police did not disclose the messages for whatever reason. The messages were disclosed by police as part of the investigation. He’s therefore still been accused and she is still the victim. Whether or not the CPS will pursue her will be down to the evidence they have. | /r/MensRights | 01/02/18 11:31 PM
How is this okay???Though the course this question relates to is ‘understanding violence against women’ so male victims are excluded. | /r/MensRights | 04/10/17 07:02 PM

Media Request: Men's rights & AbortionYou've spotted my typo! This is a documentary, a line of VO saying "men don't get a say" doesn't really compare to showing the consequences of the lack of male input to the discussion. The idea of what we do involves an element of entertainment, of storytelling - otherwise no one will watch and the argument continues to remain hidden. | /r/MensRights | 24/05/17 01:53 PM
Media Request: Men's rights & AbortionI'm a freelancer (as are the rest of the production team), we're an independent production company producing this for the BBC we are however NOT the BBC. I've never worked for the BBC - and never would (but that's for a different thread) I also have no influence over their editorial preferences, especially with regards to their news output. I feel that there is a valid perspective missing from the abortion debate and I want to do what I can to include it, and I understand that this will not be f… | /r/MensRights | 24/05/17 01:02 PM
Media Request: Men's rights & AbortionI can only speak from my own perspective, and say that I'm aiming to create an balanced programme that looks at abortion law and how it's implemented and potentially outdated. I'm the only guy on the team, and as abortion is usually framed as a 'women's rights' issue I'm keen to get at least one man involved to represent the potential-father perspective. People that have a view and a personal experience can continue to have that debate on the fringes or they can 'risk' taking part in a programme… | /r/MensRights | 24/05/17 12:39 PM
Media Request: Men's rights & AbortionIt's commissioned by the BBC. Of course the programme will be edited (as all programmes are) - this is always done with consideration to BBC editorial and Ofcom guidelines. | /r/MensRights | 24/05/17 12:20 PM
