I loathe grocery shopping, so I’m an avid user of instacart. If a dude picks up my order, I always cringe. They can’t find things or make any decent replacement recommendations. I’ve had one single dude that impressed me and didn’t stress me the whole time. Once I was making something specific and the guy couldn’t find ricotta because “they were out”. I needed it for my recipe, so went to the same store that same afternoon… they had plenty of ricotta. But because it was in a non-obvious location…

It’s alright, I’m in my 30’s/grave already. 🙄

Yup. I love my brother, but I do not like him. He at least married the woman he finally knocked up at 36, but has had 2 additional kids since then. My parents and I have already discussed what will need to be done if/when he bails. There are stipulations in my father’s will for all 3 girls. I’m designated as executor of his estate and the trusts for the kids, because my brother isn’t to be trusted with money. He married a “Mormon” woman who doesn’t really go to church at all, but still believes …

And then go ahead and schedule in a repeat of the same conversation in 1-4 months.

Pretty sure you can nix the “friends” part off that “FWB” part. I don’t even have no-benefits friends that would do that shit. Who’s got time to be out counting pennies when you’re sharing with people you care about?

Stop giving them so many chances. After his first request, you knew what he was after. Even if you decided to give him the chance to shift strategy, the next time he asked you should have just blocked immediately. Also, POF used to be referred to as Plenty of Felons a few years ago, and from what I hear, it hasn’t improved at all. Check out Bumble, Hinge, Match, or OKCupid instead maybe.

Holy sheeeeeet. You think her comment is bad? Look at her post history for this gem in AITA. Her edit must be straight from the Forever GF Pickmeisha Bible.

Nah, and now they’re too busy feeling oppressed by us womenfolk. No matter how wonderfully begowned we are.

I dunno, I’d have been curious about that one too. Like, wtf is a “redneck” smile. I have rednecks in my family, they all have different smiles. Unless you’re missing teeth and have an obvious lump of chew in your lip, OP, I’d want to know what that meant too.

Deserve is a strong word, though. Treating people well because you want to, is one thing, but I’m sure your friend would not be thrilled if her husband suddenly expected this behavior from her as his standard.

Time to find something to occupy your time that doesn’t include staring at your phone, and move on. You know he’s not into you, so you now need to stop being into him. Recognize your time is better spent on other things. If all else fails, I’m a fan of the rubber band on the wrist therapy. If you think about him, snap the rubber band on yourself. Boom.

No.. not to me either. It sounds like either he was back-pedaling his terribly unchivalrous first offer to make it seem like it didn't really happen, or he's playing games. Neither option is okay. OP, he shouldn't be "testing" you at this point (or really any point), you're 9 months into dating one another.

Part of loving yourself is learning to forgive yourself. Self improvement is learning not only to recognize those behaviors you don’t like, but to understand why you exhibit them. We’re not perfect, it’s not a flawless path, and growing pains are part of it. Don’t beat yourself up for not coming to this naturally, this is something that needs to have been taught. And please don’t beat yourself up if learning about it doesn’t flip a magical switch. No magical switch exists. Just learn to forgive …

"Loved it" - sure she did. I'm sure it had nothing at all to do with her PickMe behaviors claiming to be the kink-hungry temptress there for all of his lust-filled needs. Nope, not her. /s

HAHA! You took the best years of his life? Damn. That means it’s all downhill from here. I’d ask him how he thinks he’s going to get even shittier as a man. Good on you for getting out and getting yours, sis.

Sis, it's time to level up. If the men and women you meet are all LV, you need to expand your social circles. Start working on yourself, grow your education (this doesn't mean just school), your career, your hobbies, and focus on becoming more HV yourself. You'll notice that you'll start meeting more HV people, they will naturally be drawn to other HV people, and those that are LV in your life will start to drop away when they can't keep up.

Yeah.. that part lost me. Police aren’t HR, I doubt they would not be on her side? He admits to it and has video evidence. Spousal rape may hit road blocks still in the court systems, but I can’t imagine the cops not doing something.

I’m glad this was fake. But I’ve deeeeefinifetly seen a number of PickMeishas trolling for some military dick in base cities. Similar to this description, they’re looking to lock down a man quickly with that spousal income they get, and graduate to Dependapotamus Pick-Mes. Some women shock me with what they’re willing to put up with and actually chase. Then again.. my brother is still married, so I shouldn’t be that shocked.

This is absolutely atrocious, and I hope she takes his ass to the cleaners for it. But I’m so glad she’s finding this out at 32, and has not and will not waste any more time on this POS.

This poor woman! But I'm hopeful for her. This is a woman walking through a real tragedy in her life, dealing with all of the pain and grief that comes with it, but she is still walking. Her post includes her getting therapy, hitting the gym, improving herself, and wanting to jump back into her old career. It's a hell of an uphill trek, and she's still feeling the pain, but it sounds like this woman is going to come out the other side leveled-up and a renewed queen of her life. I'm rooting for h…

This is a fantastic reminder! Thank you. I've dated a handful of HVM in my 34 years, and I know I've ruined my chances because of this. I was too available, too pick-me, and too desperate for their attention and validation. The LVM in my life manipulated and took advantage of these behaviors, milking them for all they were worth. The HVM hit the road. Never again.

Holy shit balls, Batgirl. That was a train wreck. Just read through some of it and my heart aches for these women. The utter defeat in some of their responses to shocked comments, that they can’t leave, “he pays the bills” “he’s a good dad” “he’s good sometimes”. Just read the post history of one girl where literally none of that is true. She posted recently his “good traits”, and on top of it being an obvious plant for her SO who likely has found her account, his good qualities are laughable. H…

It’s the effort this lacks that is so awful. He legit just searched “engagement ring” in amazon, probably after casually deciding that he better propose, and bought one of the first he saw. I clicked her link and the ring is even on Prime delivery. This two legged trash monster has spent longer wiping his ass than he did picking out a ring for his (I hope former) fiancée.

No, but she’s so stuck physically and emotionally that she doesn’t want to hear anything but validation. 5 kids and no job — it’d be hard to leave if she’s not doing anything to financially protect herself.

I think you already got your answer here from him. He wants to date someone for 3-4 years. He’s not ready to marry, and he doesn’t want to commit to you. If he wanted to, he would. He knows what’s at stake, and he’s still okay to push you away. Enjoy NYE, and come the new year, let him go.

“I’m sorry you feel that way”... the narcissists apology.

And he said “someone”. Not you. Thank him for giving you an honest and true answer and move on. If you stay you’ll only be wasting more of both of your time. If he was considering marrying you, it would have already been on his mind as the pieces of his life are moving together. You’re worth more than a delayed afterthought.

Is it worse then when they flat out ask you want you want, and then get you something else with even less effort? Sometimes I’d rather not get a gift than be feeling like “why did he even bother”.

It’s fascinating because these methods or manipulations are all already tools we employ on a regular basis, almost subconsciously. This is just a good way of identifying and assigning these tools to optimize the outcome.

That's a pretty spot-on description. Are you just horny? TBH, probably. Do you like yourself? Working on it, and mostly yes now. I battle some old low self esteem issues, and ongoing impostor nonsense. But that's been another reason I've paused my dating life, trying to eliminate that false feeling of worth tied into relationships. It's fucking awful and I hate it. So my focus lately has been on me and making me happy and more successful. In the last 4 months I've started a new, much better, muc…

This is great advice! Making notes would help me be a bit more clinical and objective about interactions..

Sure. I've insisted on paying my "fair share" in most relationships, and nearly cut off ties when dating someone I discovered they had what I would consider "fuck you" money because of this. He absolutely insisted on paying for a lunch when he didn't eat anything, only had a soda. I couldn't wrap my head around it, and he had to insist, and made it clear that he was "comfortable". Embarrassingly, it made me uncomfortable. Prior to first meeting, or before I decide I'm truly interested, I'm aloof…
