1	UK government rejects menopause law as it could discriminate against men I agree in some respects; I.E. in the logic that if women were only to retire early in order to take care of their spouse, then the same logic is that men also don’t get to enjoy their retirement at all because they die (this is of course not true for all people because not everyone is straight, not everyone has a spouse etc etc.). In the original context it was that women were privileged for retiring earlier; you added the point that they did so to take care of their spouse. I made a point that this essentially means that they then don’t retire early because they just take on another type of “job” and therefore they don’t receive this “early retirement”. My point is that the group that is “retiring” because they have to care for their spouse full time isn’t truly retiring, because they are literally filling in for an actual professional aka taking on another job. Funny how people seem to think that could be a “privilege”. Edit: As someone whose family had my grandfather move in with us when he became blind and developed dementia, we basically became his nurses, so I totally understand why you do it out of love.
