1	Any recommendations for good, research-based books dealing with men's issues? Thanks. 1	Are you guys... the rich? People who live in poverty today have a much higher standard of living than people in poverty 40 or 50 years ago What does that have to do with anything? Are you saying because their standard of living is higher now that forced wealth redistribution is better? That's a fair bit of a jump there. How do you know they would have been worse off under a private charity system? Obviously mere charity alone wasn't enough to provide the poor with adequate food, shelter, and clothing. 2	Are you guys... the rich? Some people say that charity can fill in the gaps for those who need it; I say those people are delusional. If there is one thing that is even more certain than freeloaders, it's greed. Your average person would rather buy an XBOX than help a homeless veteran. 1	Are you guys... the rich? It's not spite. It's principal. If you want to help people, do the honest thing and put your money and time in to it. It's dishonest and anti-social to put other people on the hook for your feel-good beliefs. The nanny state incentivizes indefinite infancy. A growing portion of people are becoming not only "ok" with leeching through the state but see it as their right to do so. 13	First time posting here, but I thought you might like to hear my story. Frankly I think we ought to start compiling a list of names (with evidence to back it up) of people who abuse the system like this and publish it on the web. Let their actions be searchable by future employers and partners so they can know what they are getting into by interacting with these people. 2	TYT can't understand why gender-based sex selection for pregnant mothers is wrong... because the women want female children instead of male children I, along with a lot of other people here, do not think it is wrong to choose the sex of your child. I do, however, think it reveals exactly what these people believe the prospects of their offspring are going to be based on their gender. If you want to have a child that will be valued by society, have a girl. If you want a child that is basically a mule for the rest of society, have a boy.
