Many of them didn't even find out until later in life. Most people would consider them women just like any other and treat them as such. It's a normal functioning brain that happened to develop certain parts as if it were for the other gender. It's only the people who would look at a girl, get a boner, maybe stick in her vagina and enjoy it, then flip out if he finds out she was born with a penis.
