As much as you can, practice the thought exercise of “how would I feel in this situation/if someone had said that about me/if I had grown up surrounded by xyz cultural messages/etc” as if you were a woman or person of color. I find this especially useful if I try to step into the shoes of a specific person rather than trying to condense the experiences of an entire group. There are pros and cons to marriage, and though it’s worth it if you find the right person, it isn’t for everyone.
