My dog sleeps with me every night too! He has totally taken her space.

My STBXW gave me a line of taking the ring off before doing yard work at her aunt’s house. She never put it back on. I took mine off about a week later.

I didn't know this was an option. I'm curious too.

I have multiple times. I’m in a city where I don’t really have a friend/family support network (only one good friend is here In town). I noticed that I think about suicide mostly when I’m alone in the apartment that I used to share with my STBX. I also lost my job so I don’t even have that to distract me. So mid-day, sitting at home trying to put my life together, and when that one friend is working, is when I was thinking about suicide the most. What has helped is keeping myself distracted. I h…

Good question. I’m in the same boat. I guess to add to your questions, how do you find an aggressive one or one that will fight for you?

I recently joined this group and have gotten a lot of support and advice. I thank those that have offered a helping hand. When I see posts like this and references to MGTOW, it makes me sick to my stomach. That is not what we’re here for. I came here looking for guidance from those who have gone down the divorce path, advice for what I should do and how to manage my feelings, and support through this traumatic time. I did not come here to trash women. I hope you didn’t either.

I applaud your desire to send out a note of closure. I just read Esther Perel’s new book, “The State of Affairs: Rethinking Infidelity” and she suggested that you should write a letter and give it to the STBX. But deliver it in a structured setting, like at the therapist’s office. And don’t force them to read it front of you. Never expect them to read it. Go through the motions to help you feel better. This is about you. It about trying to win her back or anything else.

Wow. I would love an opportunity to reconcile and get back with my STBXW. I know it’s probably not healthy and my mental state is off but I don’t think we/she exhausted all of the ways to improve our relationship. She just took her time saying she wants a divorce and didn’t do any of the work.

I’m going to let her keep her wedding/engagement ring. I put mine on my key ring and hold it every once in a while when my hands are in my pocket. Probably not the healthiest way to move on. But it is what it is.

I wonder what if we had kids? Or got that larger house as we were trying to grow the family. I know everyone says that having kids and large assets to deal with makes the eventual divorce all that much worse. It would have probably just prolonged the inevitable; I get that. But we did have fun dreaming about it.

I got a therapist. Although, she did take an extended break for the holidays. I'm seeing her next week. And yeah, there's a lot I have to process with the therapist. This bill is going to be astronomical! Exercise is hard now. I know I need to be moving but I'm having a hard time getting motivated. I am, however, an avid winter sports enthusiast so I'm planning a couple of ski trips in the next couple of weeks. Now that I'm out of a job, I can go wherever, whenever!

"Her family's opinion came first, always." That hit a little too close to home. Thank you; I've been looking for a way to codify my STBX's actions. She does the exact same thing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
