Looks like the original story on ABC Action News has been taken down. Some of the facts here seem fishy and I have to wonder if they were properly corroborated. Smells strongly of click bait. In any case, looks like the school didn't press charges (probably).

In the U.K. and other Western societies, it sometimes feels as if we collectively decided, at some point around the mid-1980s, that men are awful. One result of the battle for equal rights and sexual safety for women has been a decades-long focus on men as privileged, violent abusers. Modern iterations of the male, drawn in response to these criticisms, are creatures to mock: the vain metrosexual; the crap husband who can’t work the dishwasher. We understand, as a gender, that we’re no longer pe…

Well, this is one of the highest ratings you'll see on Rotten Tomatoes.

I too thought this. The list takes the notion of men being prone to rape to such an extreme that it just reeks of satire.

Funny video that takes political correctness to the extreme. Hopefully it will make some people think.

Saw this article posted by a girl on Facebook. It was refreshing to see something portraying men positively and acknowledging that women are often in the wrong in relationships.

The original post Comments seem to be quite sensible. Maybe we are seeing the beginnings of recognition of men's issues as legitimate?

Here is the motion. "We recognise that male violence against women is endemic in society... we have a particular responsibility to confront and challenge male violence against women within our movement." "We recognise the enormous challenges faced by women victims of male violence, and the pressures which women face, including from abusive men, not to complain about violence and abuse. We therefore believe that, when women complain of male violence within our movement, our trade unions and polit…

According to /u/forensic_freak, the story is from 2009, the woman wasn't a feminist, was charged, and the guy wasn't that badly hurt. The crowd cheering was pretty messed up though. http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/1jx3gv/feminist_makes_false_sexual_assault_allegation/

I know the beard comment was a joke, I just can't imagine ever seeing an equivalent ad with men saying that women without long hair are nobody, for example.

'Cathy Richert, a legal expert, said: “It’s obviously less traumatic to say that everyone is taking a DNA test than singling out certain people who risk being stigmatised.”' You mean like how men are being stigmatised?

The student is also suing the university, so hopefully he will get some compensation for all this bullshit.

The owner's response from the comment section: I would like to respond to the article, "North End Pub Serves Up Pints of Sexism" that was published in "The Halifax Media Co-op". My name is Dimo Georgakakos and I am the owner/ manager of Gus' Pub & Grill. I am going to refer to the person who wrote the article as "Trans X". Trans X describes her/ himself as trans, genderqueer, and gender fluid. Fair enough. I will use the same terminology that the author of the polemic used to describe her/ him s…

I saw this video with a moralistic/Christian bent on Facebook posted by a female acquaintance. It has also appeared on /r/nofap and a few other subreddits. After watching the video, this was my response on facebook: "Research has found that pornography is more likely a substitute for violent sex acts than it is a contributing factor. In particular, the dramatic increase in the availability of internet pornography from the 90s onward has been associated with a decrease in violent sex crimes. It's…

Yeah, I've read a few things by them and now I am getting a weird vibe. It is clearly targeting women and is not written for the benefit of men.

She is such a hypocrite. "If you're not a woman, you can empathize, but you simply can't say you know what we've been through." Then: "You might not even realize this, but your maleness gives you huge advantages out there in the big, wide world." So, we men have no idea what it's like to be a woman and no concept of the struggles they go through, but somehow they know better than we do what it is like to be a man? Fuck off.

"...ladies – we know that the majority of men are average at best". No shit. That's the definition of "average". This is tripe.

The wage gap is a core "argument" that feminists use to support their claim that the patriarchy exists or ever existed. If men and women really were paid different amounts for the same work, who could deny the presence of systemic sexism? It is a convenient argument that any rational person would see as blatantly unfair if true.

Here is the original post. Most interesting bits from the blog post: "For men, the picture is particularly striking: the only income growth occurred for those above the median." "...for a given percentile, the increase in women's wages was systematically higher than for men." Also, from a comment: "robots/computers are to men what tractors were to horses."

Who wouldn't prefer benevolent sexism to hostile sexism?! If people wanted to give me free stuff for having a penis, that would be fine with me, and clearly preferable to people beating me up for being male. The whole premise of this study seems pretty silly.

"It is 20 months since the state’s sweeping alimony law went into effect, replacing an old system marred by inequities and abuses, including, in some cases, alimony payments for life, even for short-term marriages. Critics said the old law discouraged recipients, most of them women, from supporting themselves, and from remarrying." Those poor women.

Can anyone speak to whether or not this likely would have gone to court? How likely would it have been for him to actually be charged? Surely they wouldn't have put a 15 year old on a sex offender registry for streaking. What bothers me about this story is we seem to only be getting what the school was threatening to do, and not how realistic this was. In any case, the school shouldn't have taken it so far.

I'm sorry for everything you've gone through. The one thing I can say that might give you hope is that I have started to notice more (young) men taking notice of these issues. Slowly but surely men's issues are becoming less taboo. Also, please don't give up on yourself or on other men. You have had a much harder life than most of us here (and certainly than myself), so that might be why you have been able to see the truth more quickly. Be patient with others who do not understand the male point…

Link to the original post There are some lessons in here for MRAs as well, I think: “...the very nature of activism leads to negative stereotyping. By aggressively promoting change and advocating unconventional practices, activists become associated with hostile militancy and unconventionality or eccentricity.” "Avoid rhetoric or actions that reinforce the stereotype of the angry activist. Realize that if people find you off-putting, they’re not going to listen to your message."
