So while my AA chemical keeps telling me to not approach, I think about how awesome it would be if I succeeded. That sounds like outcome dependency, which while it may work for some, does not work for me. I battle AA by knowing that if I don't approach I will feel terrible, whereas if I do approach, no matter what happens, I'll feel like a boss. Otherwise some good points there, especially about how girls feel even more anxious than us.

At first, I agree'd with you /u/tvirl. But then I was thinking, how can you ask her in a way that gives her agency to refuse your offer or accept it entirely based on what she wants to do, while also not coming off as whiny, or self-defeating. Then I realized /u/Siddly's suggestion does both. "If you weren't working" allows her to respond to your offer in a way she chooses. It shows to her that you understand she is working right now, and that you don't expect anything from her because of that. …
