It sounds superficial until you experience a good episode of sonder. Your hobbies are founded on passions that other people pursued. The would be no games, art, or literature without its creators. Even their medium needed to be invented by someone. There would be no history to learn without both the history makers and the invested recorders. The desire to know people comes from the desire to understand the world, or as many facets of it as one possibly can.

Dude this question is just asking what social norms people would codify. Isn't the relationship ending enough of a natural consequence? What would the consequence be for not following these rules? And if consequences are on the line, why is the only way out of the situation "we talked about it and totally agreed to split the bill on our first date, you gotta trust me."

That's why life is so much happier when you stop caring about following social norms so closely. Things feel less gravitational after you start treating it like a choice rather than an obligation. I wouldn't have ended up as happy as I am if any of my choices felt like an obligation.

My father remembers his mother crying when she learned she was pregnant with her sixth kid.

The sister of my great grandmother, whom I only know about because I was lucky to have been able to see my great grandmother before she passed. The hags, homeless, and other destitute of civilization are hard pressed to be remembered while they're still alive, let alone many years after the fact. Who's supposed to write their obituary? Hell, most average working class people are quickly forgotten by society after our death. Trying to count how many have been forgotten is like trying to count bla…

There's a lot of toxicity in the way lesbians view bi women. A lot of jokes or rants I've heard are at a bi woman's expense. I could really go into it, but that's a rant for another day.

I can't relate to any of these scenarios, so it looks like I'm not gonna have a huge ideology shift any time soon.

Mixture of nature and nurture, contextual depending on the culture, fluctuates but generally stays within a certain range. Most I know were always the 'grab life by the horns' type from birth. It's not tangible things like degrees that set them apart. It's a personality trait. That's why it's so hard for people to fake. If you're not being true to yourself, it's obvious and a turn-off. Funny thing is, I think alphas are too busy being productive and confident in themselves to care if others labe…

22 is young adult, whose role in society has changed over the decades. Your experience is yours, but that doesn't stop other people from relating to throwawayhouseissue1's example.

"I'm too old to care about politics. Back in the day we could do it over coffee before working at the shop. But now I don't have coffee or the shop." quoted from a kind older person

Depends on if you mean Susan B. Anthony or Tumblr user AnarchistBitch92. This is just a hypothesis, but the age gap may play a big role. It's easy to imagine a kind older person who has little influence from the internet to say they are a feminist. All they know is the definition and historical significance, not the modern stigma. Young people have a far too easy view of all types of extreme thinking, which you would think would be a healthy thing to see diversity. But the underdevelopment of th…
