I felt like most of the Q&A section was weak because she'd always take a question and then get side-tracked and not quite answer the question that was asked. She still has to come from a good family and have a good education for a rich guy to marry her which is why they still go to college. It does avail them to a better set of men, but prices them out of lower quality men. The farmer girl can be the affair on the side and collect money and maybe even bare children for the rich guys, but the official wife that meets his family has to be well-bred. Her actual earning potential isn't really relevant.

I've heard many middle aged women bemoan their situation. By middle age I mean 25-30. They're still good looking women, but they can't compete with the younger girls anymore so they feel like they missed their window of opportunity and they have to settle now. Dogs are different. Anyways, I've met plenty of dogs I hated. Most of them small dogs. Never met a cat I hated. You can have a relationship with a dog though that you could never have with a cat. Yea its actually a good film. It clearly doesn't turn out the way she (the director) wants it to though, since the couple she follows (an old goofy white man and a poor Chinese girl) actually have good intentions and fall in love. the article is composed of mainly strawman arguments I can see how you'd get that notion, but I don't agree. The arguments are backed up by links, and if you follow the links you'll find arguments which are widely supported by feminists, like the slutwalk campaign. Feminism isn't monolithic so anything you say about it can be construed as a strawman. We have to draw the line somewhere. I agree that the tone of the article was childish, that doesn't mean it can't make solid points.

That's projecting, though. Yes, whiny guys say what he said, but what he said is also true. Maybe he was whining and maybe he wasn't. Its hard to argue it either way. I didn't interpret it as whining, personally, because he specifically pointed out that these women were educated which indicated to me that he expected them to have a rational agreement to something which he thought was evidently true. He was just having an honest converstation with some people he considered capable of participating in that, hence his reference to their level of education. That's where he misstepped. Only the most intelligent women are capable of totally objective thinking, and I'd wager that formal education has a dampening affect on that aspect of their personalities.
