Gotta have a hobby.

My personal experience is that men and women have a lot more in common than they admit or think. Sometimes when I listen to complaints about the opposite gender from each gender, it often feels like they're same exact complaints. Men are stupid/manipulative/mean spirited/shallow/intrude on women's fun/etc. Women are stupid/manipulative/mean spirited/shallow/intruder of women's fun/etc. Just similar human issues being expressed in different ways.

Older studies used less precise methods that overestimated sperm counts. When you control for that, counts are mostly stable.

No one is fully sure if the sperm count decline is actually true. https://consultqd.clevelandclinic.org/no-cause-for-panic-as-sperm-counts-found-to-be-steady

Thanks. I'm sorry you also had to deal with all that. Even if you finally accept it's not your responsibility to change somone, it's often still sad and hard to watch someone you care about destroy themselves.

Most of the tools learned in therapy are online, for free. It takes more personal accountability and is a bit more like flying blind. But it's the same tool set. Doesn't matter if it's found online, in books, in a support group, among friends, etc. All therapy in different packages. I don't recommend foregoing medication when it's needed. There aren't any points for suffering with a biological issue that can be mitigated. I don't recommend it either but from personal experience, having been brok…

I didn't intentionally misunderstand you, it seems to be just genuine.

Okay. I say that because I don't actually feel like you're engaging in good faith. You seem more like you want to angrily vent about your experiences, which is fine, but that isn't actually debate. I'm sorry you watched men in your life not be able to handle life. It's frustrating. I have been there and quite frankly have had different experiences on what actually works on getting them to improve.

You like to argue, huh?

No, it technically isn't passive, which is why I scare quoted it that way, and I'm not here to say that men shouldn't go to therapy. I've done so myself. But therapy does cost money, time, resources and I think a lot of the problems that therapy and medication end up addressing can also be handled through proper community and mentorship, which is something that is increasingly disappearing in the United States. I have an alcoholic, divorced brother and it would be extremely nice if he went to a …

Have these men thought about ACTUALLY being useful and competent instead of roleplaying as one? Most adult men have jobs and responsibilities they attend to like anyone else. You keep bringing up "aura farming" but, unless I am misunderstanding you, that is something people on social media largely do for engagement. Very few people, male or female or otherwise, are doing activities to singularly farm aura in my experience. Or go to other professionals like getting a diagnosis and medication, whi…

Then that got me thinking. Women totally misunderstood men when they say "Men must suffer in silence". Women mistake that as a cry for help. Those guys actually want to be validated for that. They want to feel like Guts from Berserk, Kratos from God Of War, Bruce Wayne, etc. They want to feel like a cool sigma who's carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Men want to feel useful or competent. Being stoic in the face of responsibility or danger is a pretty easy way to feel like you'v…

It is not a guaranteed safe profession, no matter how many precautions you take. Random stuff like "barber chairs" can happen, even if you've done everything technically right.

No, I feel you there. The discourse on here is almost always not good.

There are risky jobs that have to be done in order for modern society to function basically. It's not as simple as not doing it. Last I checked, and this may have changed, lumberjacks and loggers have the highest fatality rate of any profession in the US. We need wood as a resource, so it is going to need to get done regardless. Maybe the male penchant for risk and often carelessness can add to work fatalities in those fields but it is just never going to be perfectly safe to be a logger. Or to …

"Then over time, she pressures him to become more agreeable, more accommodating, less autonomous, less risky, less “self-oriented.” Basically Superman slowly turns into Clark Kent." This is basically necessary if you are going to do something like have kids and raise a family. Both parties sacrifice their autonomy for the sake of the family unit and you cannot really have a successful marriage or children hinged on mystery or the independence of one of the parents. I think also what people value…

What the hell is anyone even talking about anymore

"He never got to go crazy and participate in wild shit. He wants to have the same fun albeit later in life." I don't know if this is about you and your life specifically but there really is nothing stopping you from pursuing wild shit at any stage of your life if you really want to. Maybe your current partner might not want that but if all you want is wild sex then it's better to be honest with yourself and with her and move on with your respective lives.

You sound completely insane.

What you're saying was true a decade ago and before then but especially since the pandemic, virginity and sexlessness has been rising among all cohorts. I haven't gone into the details behind the numbers so there may be demographics where men still have outsized loneliness but the loneliness epidemic is increasingly breaking the glass ceiling as far as young people are concerned.

I don't know what to tell you. You would have had a point ten years ago. But things are changing, and loneliness and sexlessness are now equalizing, especially since the pandemic. The amount of mental illness and screenpoisoning being spread by smart phones probably doesn't help.

Both women and men experience sex drives and attraction to each other (and sometimes themselves). There are women who have never been asked out or had sex. Not every woman has a line of suitors waiting at her beck and call. Female loneliness is now also rising along with male loneliness.
