I actually really appreciate that you said this because hunting a deer was exactly what I was going to do first lol. Thanks for the advice!

This is how I try to think of things. I've yet to kill and eat my own food, but I have plans to do so because I think it's important that we respect our place in the food chain. And survival skills are great too. :)

Do it. I'd love to see the result of that.

Wow, so many things going on here. First of all, I'm not saying I expect anything or deserve anything different. I was only trying to point out the fact that not all women view men who share their emotions with distain. My whole point was that I saw young men who were in dire need of help and did what I could to help them. Isn't that exactly what I said though? Society expects men to act a certain way--women desire men who act that way--if men act otherwise, they're looked down on. All of this b…

That's just a stupid thing to assume. No, crying doesn't get me wet. That's kind of weird. Doesn't it strengthen the bond between me and my husband which, in turn, strengthens our love and relationship in other ways? Hell yes it does. Just because I don't want to jump his bones while he's upset (like seriously, who would want to actually do that?) doesn't mean his being vulnerable with me doesn't bring about a net positive gain in our relationship as a whole.

Not to handle all of it and fix my problems, no. But to have a conversation about what's going on when they ask what's wrong? Absolutely.

I'm glad you said this. Like I explained before, I am definitely an emotionally aware woman and spent a lot of my younger years analyzing those emotions. Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me and rather means a lot to me instead. I love helping people and, honestly, thrive when people share their problems with me, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I feel like we fail to remember how self-centered a lot of society is today anymore. It may not just be with men where this is an issue. I've …

Why on earth are you being downvoted? Just because a study of a group of people says one thing doesn't mean it's universal, it just shows the majority.

in hopes they catch the rare woman who happens to be feeling charitable that day. That's kind of what I'm talking about. It's not charity, it's respect, open-mindedness, and sympathy or empathy. There is a reason pop culture is a thing--because it's popular. The popular opinion is that men need to be infallibly strong. The popular opinion is that women need to be domesticated, stay in the kitchen, and pop out babies. They're both terrible ideals and leave little room for individuality and growth…

That attitude is part of the problem. I would not react that way. Is my reaction that of a minority? Probably. But don't make black and white statements about women if you don't want them to make them about you. Edit for clarity.

It's definitely a trust thing with women too, or at least it is for me. I've been burned a lot emotionally too and it can take a lot to trust someone enough to be vulnerable again. Though I absolutely agree with everything you've said.

I've had people say that to me about my depression and I feel like it comes from a place if ignorance. Those who have never understood the chasm of depression can't really understand how helpless you feel and how you can't just turn it off or think more positively to make it go away. I've found that it's better not to "throw your pearls to swine" in that case and try and find someone more sympathetic to discuss those things with.

Wow, did not expect so many responses. That being said, I fully recognize that I'm a minority. Being a very emotional person myself and having dealt with a lot of trauma in my past, I know how valuable it is to relieve yourself emotionally. Being the "more masculine" kind of woman, I made a lot of male friends, and because misery loves company, many of us were dealing with similar trauma. I always felt so much more connected to them when we cried together over whatever shit life was throwing at …

Woman here. Have definitely thought that about men before.

Please do elaborate! Need a better way to explain to others when I talk about this.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
