One of my best friends was murdered by his wife recently, she took her own life immediately after. I'm glad they didn't have kids as I have zero doubt she would have killed them as well. She has bad mental health issues but I don't get killing your spouse like this.

Step dad paid his 1st wife approximately $5m and a Florida beach house. Close to 30 year marriage but she had been cheating on him for 10 of it. He was way too nice about it. It was approximately half of his net worth at the time.

Have to be friends first and foremost. Like you enjoy spending time at home with them. Shared interests is great. Biggest advice I always give is to not get married super fast. I think you don't even truly know the other person for a year. As in they, and probably us, don't show their true selves for a year. I'm also a huge believer in not sharing bank accounts. Or have 1 shared and 2 personal accounts. Together for 30 years and married most of that. Overall very good marriage.

Same for the F200 company I recently left. It got hilarious honestly all the new clubs and groups that suddenly appeared. Nothing wrong with inclusion if you still hire on even ground for all applicants.

Biggest one for me that I tell kids and their friends is not getting married too fast. You don't even start to see the other person's true self for a year of dating. Also if you aren't friends with your spouse, like truly enjoy spending time with you, expect a miserable experience. (26 years married, 30 together. Have never shared an account with wife because of co-mingling assets and inheritance.)

Ha...there is a parole story in there deep but I'll let it stay hidden. My wife has overall been a great partner and mother. She would say the same about me. She has so many single mom friends who are just bonkers, so it makes her look even better. I'll at times say something about don't you want to be a "single lady who don't need no man?" (Usually when she tells me an idiotic story from one friend or another.) To her credit she always says, "I never said or say that, I know I have it good". An…

I'm at year 26 married. Long ago I asked wife if she wanted smallish gifts for all those gift days or one big one a year, like a combination of all the $ I would have spent. She immediately chose the single bigger gift. That is on Christmas and we are both happy with the arrangement. (We do often go out to eat on special days but that's it the rest of the year.) No gifts for me on my days, except for Christmas as well, which is fine.

Nothing irritates me more than that. Nothing. Single moms aren't fathers. They are mothers and I'm glad when they do their best for their kids, but no, not fathers.

Yeah, I'm tall and was frequently told by women I was dating that they are drawn to tall men as they feel safe with them. I believe them, heard that so many times. I can understand a tall woman preferring a tall man just for the desire for standard norms, man being taller than the woman. They have more flexibility in shoes for their outfits. I don't know, my wife has told me variations of that for years. "I hated wearing sandals all the time with prior boyfriends." But for a 5' 3" woman or whate…

Honestly I think a lot of it depends on trusts/inheritance type issues. It is in my case. If folks don't keep separate accounts, I suggest 3 accounts, spouse1/spouse2/shared 1 and 2.

Still on 1st marriage. 21 years. Never had co-mingled accounts. I strongly suggest it to all my younger friends/co-workers.

Saw one of these on my son's college campus during a visit last year. I asked where they got their incorrect info about the wage gap. They had no legitimate answer. I asked them we should be paying. They said $1. We showed them our BIA tribal cards. (I'm about 1/3 Am Indian, 2/3 Scottish so look mostly white.) Asked again. What should male native Americans pay? What about my daughter? What about black men? Black women? Son's transgender friend? They were really flustered and it was pretty hilari…

Agree. All I could think is that the writer and the graphic person were not the same. From the image I expected, well, not a article that made perfect sense and seemed well balanced.

I think they were just reporting what the cops said. It wasn't in quotes but that is what it looks like to me. We can hope though.

The same people who complain about this statue or its name are the same ones who think the atomic bomb dropping airplane "Enola Gay" had something to do with homosexuals. Sailor/nurse photo was taken the day Japan "Unconditionally Surrendered". People need to use their brains more. I know, I know, preaching to the choir.

Yeah I can see that. I just think it would go a little "big brother" for somebody to donate $1,000,000 for a scholarship and not be able to set guidelines on who can receive the scholarship. Again, this is private scholarships, I'm not talking about those using public money. I have done this before btw, it is pretty interesting how specific or how open you can make the scholarship. The one we endowed for my dad was not sex based in anyway. His is based on financial need and if all things being e…

Lots of scholarships were setup by 3rd parties, not the govt or individual schools. When you endow a scholarship you can put pretty much whatever stipulations you like on it. Tall men, short women, left handed asians, etc.... The scholarship discussed in the linked article seems to be this type of scholarship. I don't have a problem with those personally. I do scratch my head at the ones that take race more into consideration than income. I know so many people who received really good scholarshi…

Its a crap shoot as mentioned elsewhere. I had mine when I was 32 and had 2 kids. The doctor just asked "Have any kids?" and "Are you sure you don't want any more kids?" and that was it. Scheduled and procedure setup, good to go. I've heard of others that had a hard problem but not from anyone I know personally.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
