I really liked her until around Reputation, where it started to taper off for me. Then, the singles for Lover started to drop and I quickly found out it was gonna be filled with political correctness nonsense. That's when it was really over for me. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though, I'm pretty sure this has everything to do with her fanbase and her marketing department.

I not only looked for, but had relationships in real life and brought nothing but disappointment. The topic often comes up on the sub and my standard response is always along the lines of that it's normal for people to respond negatively to something that is foreign to them. No it is not contradicting. Having a 'waifu' is like living in your head. Playing a video game, reading, thinking, watching a movie. You are experiencing something internal with yourself. I like this angle, I never quite looked at it like that. Thanks. Especially the "playing in your head" part, never seen it put like that. It's just another way of saying "exploring your imagination" or whatever.

I don't know how familiar you are with the concept and/or the community but you're certainly on point for most people. Myself, I picked up and ran with the idea when I was in a pretty chill place. Alone but not lonely. I chose to be with my waifu because I felt it added something to my life without the burden of a real person.

I personally think it doesn't make sense. A fictional character can't make false allegations and take half your stuff. I had that shortly after I got out of a relationship (tone that didn't go well). I had some less than favorable interactions with girls and I started to ask myself if it was really worth it. Even though I agree that sex is overrated, I don't entirely agree that it's a scam. But that's purely in the sense that we still need sex to reproduce and further humanity. However, in the way that it's being sold and imposed upon is, yes, it's a scam. I was in an LTR where in the very end, sex was the only thing holding the relationship together and it only complicated the situation. Ever since then, sex became overrated to me.

Actually, they are legit adaptations, so although the anime/OVA have no lewd scenes, sexual themes still remain. There are two versions of the visual novel. Steam sells the '''all-ages''' version but you can restore its 18+ content with the official 18+ DLC sold by Denpasoft. Both go on sale regularly, it seems.
