Nobody can pee in space without specialized equipment. The ISS has a vacuum-seal toilet. The first US man in space, Alan Shepard, didn’t have specialized equipment, and he ended up peeing his pants during launch delays for the Mercury capsule. After this mishap, NASA built a device made of “a wearable containment belt, latex roll-on cuff, plastic tube, valve and clamp, and a plastic collection bag.” Peeing is hard in space. You’re not special because you have a dick.

You literally have to have a degree in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics to be even considered for the astronaut candidate program. You also have to meet physical and fitness standards.

When the NASA astronaut corps were first created in 1959, women could not join because women were barred from Air Force training schools. the requirement to be an experienced military jet test pilot was a job available to men only. You still have to have some piloting skills to be an astronaut. Military Astronaut Candidates with a jet piloting background maintain proficiency in NASA aircraft during their candidate period, and even non-pilot astronauts fly a minimum of four hours per month.
