No, I think you're pretty much dead on. The idea of confidence used to be putting on a front, now the idea is that you are confident underneath all the conditioning to watch what you do and say, etc.

less risk And there's the fundamental flaw in this. Scarcity mindset. "What if she doesn't like me and stops talking to me?!" I agree that you have to crawl before you can walk, but doing it with someone else's pre-written lines is just reinforcing the 'I'm not good enough' belief that is the major obstacle for most people. If you don't need the girl to like you there is no risk.

That's why I take your approach, what I think is funny doesn't always work via text, but I'd rather meet a few girls who are genuinely into me than meet a lot who eventually all realize I'm using canned lines because I'm insecure about being myself.

I see your point, but I think there is a discernable difference between being aloof because you have abundance and confidence vs. being aloof because you're trying to trick someone into liking you.

You know where the whole 'be aloof' thing truly comes from? Insecurity and fear of rejection. If you never show all your cards, and she rejects you, she's not truly rejecting you; she's rejecting what you let her believe. It's a way to insulate your ego from true rejection. i.e., self-sabotage because it seems more acceptable to fail when you 'didn't really try'.

Tl;dr: stop being an adoring fan.

Yeah, I fall into that category and definitely have a problem with it. It can be hard to find that line between self-deprecating humor and someone taking it too far when you're just used to suppressing your reaction.

This is something that you instinctually know most of the time. You get that gut feeling like ouch... and then rationalize laughing it off. You know when you're offended.

There's definitely a time and place for it. But I think if people, newbies especially, read 'isolation is good' then they can start getting annoyed at having to talk with her friends, constantly try and separate her when the situation isn't conducive to it, etc. and that makes you look like a douche.

Only disagree with one thing - isolation. Girls don't want to be judged, sure. But the way to avoid this is not isolation. Isolating makes you look predatory to her friends and makes your intentions painfully obvious. So you might talk to the girl all night, and when 2am hits those girls you ignored show up, and conveniently remind her she's supposed to go back to her friend's place (or whatever) A better way IMO is talk to her friends, be nice but don't flirt/kino them, get their approval while…

There's an aggressive push, which is like 'seriously, fucking stop', and then there's the passive test push, which is like a playful 'fuck you'. For the former I find putting one or both arms behind your back helps you seem less intimidating, and say something to empathize with her - no misunderstandings, no harassment, and no looking defeated for you this way. Should definitely consider making a graceful exit. The passive test (playful) push is just a way to test if you're secretly an insecure …

Funny you say that. On the topic of being grateful, I emailed him right after I finished the article. Mark also changed my life. Honestly, he probably saved my life. A bit more than a year ago Models put me on this path of self-development that led me to so many other great influences. If I'd never read it I'd be completely lost, unhealthy, no self-esteem, no hobbies or friends or life... I probably would have just killed myself after a while. Just thinking about it is making me tear up because …

I'd say the majority of people are in their 20s on Reddit, but especially /r/seduction. A good chunk of people will have settled down by the time they're ~30.

I think it works on other levels too. Like a lot of guys I know who are very focused on getting girls constantly tend not to have their own hobbies or haven't gotten very far with a career. Meanwhile, some others who are completely dedicated to education/work have fewer friends or stories. It's really dorky but I like to think of it like when you start an RPG and you get a certain number of attribute points to spread out.

That's true. I'm just constantly surprised, and a little bothered, by some of the women I know that are insecure about their looks. That feeling of a potential ulterior motive undermines compliments fairly often.

One of the great crimes of men being shy. As OP kind of suggested, chances are that she's not sure how beautiful she is and has been told only a few times in situations where it was already 'safe' to say.

Yeah being 20 is a big factor. You might also want to consider why you're pursuing a girl before you do it. Do you want to have adventures and experience life with her? Is she just a hot girl you want to fuck? Are there discrepancies between the person she really is and the idealized version in your head? Sometimes it's hard to figure these things out in advance, but I find it helps to think about it.

I think what we're getting out of this is that we should all stop being insecure and get out of our heads, haha. Although personally... I would love a giant woman to spoon me at night

It has pros and cons. Stooping down to talk to/dance with girls is awkward. Also everyone wants to know why you don't play basketball.

She will give you a distinct signal when it is creepy. That face or 'uuhhhhh... not cool...' type comments. When it's creepy, you will know.

I'd like to add there's really nothing wrong with a bit of flirting that won't go anywhere. It's good practice, you can open up more, on top of which you're talking to a person, not a scoring opportunity.

Ah dude. I wish I were like you when I was 18. You're 6 years ahead of me bro, this all took me so much longer to figure out. I don't really know what the point of this comment is, just wanna say you're going in the right direction, you're gonna figure it out and be happier. Don't waste any more time doubting yourself. Even though I don't know you, I'm proud of you because I remember how hard it was to start. So good luck and remember to keep us updated on your journey to get stronger.

I have an English accent and I'm fairly confident that if I told a girl to quit being a cunt, it wouldn't go over well. Australian, on the other hand, might be the best tool for that job. It's like anything else. In my experience, the accent is only attractive to girls who have already decided I'm attractive. With the exception of a few simpletons, opening my mouth has never drastically sparked someone's interest.

I think that is an important distinction. If things are really terribly unbearable, and you sit there looking bored but otherwise putting up with it, you've become a 'dickbot'.

That's how I feel too. I don't walk around being suave as fuck all day. But it is reassuring to know when you get that confusing message or mixed signals or whatever, you have the appropriate methodology and tools to understand and deal with it. As for women, I was never so misogynistic as misguided. Seduction has helped me better understand women as people with fairly consistent ideas and behaviour rather than mysterious, unpredictable and beautiful creatures. Against the stereotypical idea of …

Yeah, it's easy to come off as childish or spiteful when you do this, because that's sadly a common reason for this behaviour.

I'm 23 and it strikes me that a lot of quality women our age pine for a guy with an older mentality but young enough to go on some serious adventures. Not a fake alphabro, and not a hermit. Models is basically built for this. There are still a lot of girls who seem to be mentally stuck around 18/19, of course. Although I'm sure the man of substance approach would work just as well for them.
/r/seduction30/07/13 06:00 PM

I think it's even better than that, it's a guide to why you're not the man you want to be. You could hypothetically read Models, see no improvement with women, but still benefit greatly from it. My main problem with it is that people won't listen to my recommendation to read it because of the PUA context, when it actually dismisses the same things people dislike about the typical PUA stuff. I'd say any guy in any situation could get something from Models. It's too bad it's written for guys with …

Personally I don't think it's even that legitimate. There is a certain idea that comes up often when females post here, especially when they are seen to be offering advice, that they shouldn't be listened to because they can't possibly have the emotional self-awareness, honesty and objectivity to give accurate advice. The thing is, that only applies when asking 'what would you like guys to do', not 'what do you do'. I think it takes pretty minimal self-awareness to know what you do to signal bei…

That was fantastic reading. I'm feeling confusingly enamored right now. What are you doing after this? In all seriousness, thanks for sharing. I'd have been tempted to keep that to myself, it's that good.

You know, that's not a bad system. It's closer to how male attraction works than the conventional 1-10, anyway.

I completely agree with you, but I think getting called out like that is one of the most important mechanisms for that self-improvement. Really makes you reflect objectively on what you said and why, and forces you to challenge the underlying beliefs.
