| 5 | My Title IX Inquisition - Professor Laura KipnissInteresting quote from the article: "When it comes to campus sexual politics, however, the group most constrained from speaking — even those with tenure — is men. No male academic in his right mind would write what I did. Men have been effectively muzzled, as any number of my male correspondents attested." | /r/MensRights | 30/05/15 02:05 AM |
| 1 | It's not brigadding on reddit if it's done off site: HeartMob by Hollaback! "Bystanders looking to provide support will receive public requests, along with chosen actions of support. You can “have someone’s back” and ... directly contributing to safer spaces online."Once a product to fix an issue is created, the creators of said product need the issue to remain in order for the product to remain relevant. Interestingly, the creators of this products have an incentive to harass people. If the mob hired by this product decides to harass people, who will decide who is the harasser and who is the harassed? This will not end well. | /r/MensRights | 17/05/15 02:58 PM |
| 7 | My college Sociology class defines sexual harrasment as "discrimination against women on the basis of sex..."Trying to fight a teacher directly could make your grades worse. You'll have to decide if that if is worth it. You may not want to try to fight this directly. You could ask whether the definition should include transgender. If it should include transgender, ask if it should include those transitioning from male to female. As a follow up, ask if it should include transition from female to male. Having read your writings, I would actually agree with you that this sub can be negative (you said whiny) in a way that is unnecessary. However, educating rather than silencing would seem to be a better method. You seem to be willing to participate in that, so thank you for that. | 1 | So... telling girls they shouldn't dress sexually is sexualising women?I wear a pair of jeans with the crotch cut out; that way my balls can hang free when I walk down the hall at school. I should be allowed to be comfortable at school. People who complain are sexualizing me. I respect myself enough to respect my body. If someone is distracted by my freedom, that is their problem. The other is installing a camera in the bedroom and signing a waiver proving consent. Under the "yes means yes" law, neither of these are fool proof. | 9 | If men should not hit women because men are stronger, does that mean nerds should purposely fail exams and let jocks pass because nerds are smarter? The analogy breaks down. We're expected to compete in exams; it is a moral action to "win" at exams. We are not expected to hit one another; it is an immoral action to hit another person. A better question would be if we treat women differently (ie, exposure to violence is treated differently), should women be allowed to continue to fight in the military?
