As I’ve learned going through a divorce with a business, there’s all kinds of “professionals” that make their living falsely valuing things for divorces. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest that a divorce attorney would know what “appraiser” to call to get either a high or low value depending upon what their client needed.

You can probably look it up at the court house in the county where they divorced.

First: you can’t fix it all by yourself. A marriage takes two. If what you’ve described is accurate, there’s really only one question: will she also do her part to fix it? It sounds like she’s depressed or there’s something else going on. If she won’t commit to working on her issues, probably with a therapist, psychologist, minister or professional of some kind, it’s not going to get fixed. It sounds like you want to fix it and are prepared to put in the work. If she won’t commit to fixing it an…

Not a lawyer. In general though, with equal incomes and If you get 50/50 custody, probably 0 or close to it.

More comprehensive. Platform has calendar, documents, messaging, billing, payments and a strategy grid. My firm uses the billing, payments and calendar. It’s pretty slick. I would like to see them use the documents feature too, but they don’t really use it.

Im using a medium sized firm and they have exactly that. It’s great! I can see where I’m at any time I want. They post the billing every night.

For every one that goes to trial that they lose, there’s probably 10 that settle and nobody ever knows what happened.

It could be entirely on the opposing lawyer. They call yours and say “I think this can mediate.” They know good and well that their client is ridiculous, but want to see if you’ll cave and run the meter a bit more.

Because the lawyer gets paid every time. Imagine you’re a divorce lawyer and an obvious high conflict client walks in. Do you really want to go to trial with them if they’re likely to loose? Heck no, that’s a recipe for a bar complaint and definitely unpaid bills if they owe you anything. Mediation is low risk, settlement is low risk. Trial is risky.

Holy shit, what an ordeal! Glad you’re on the back side of it now and it sounds like it worked out reasonably well.
