I don’t see people attacking them. Even if they were, that by itself proves nothing about the validity of the argument. Insults are irrelevant to the validity of opinions, much less facts.

I had my standards and was single for most of the last nine years. Now I’m not single and I’m planning on getting married. Not only is having standards not wrong, you need to have standards to ensure you’ll have healthy, happy relationships.

It’s already been said, everyone can have whatever standards and both men and women get criticized for trying to bat out of their league. Listen, many women get dicks thrown at them at such rates that dicks blot out the sun. It might not even be a matter of standards but of deflecting a barrage of unwanted dicks. You’re more likely to care about your standards the more you’re forced to think about and enforce them. Most dudes I know have rarely had their standards frequently tested because women…

I find it ironic to even be talking about paying for dates when the vast majority of women I encountered in the last five years have just wanted to go adventuring in the woods (hiking) and meet my dog (I don’t have a dog). Granted this was in PDX and primarily via OLD. The people I knew IRL were very poly and incidentally never mentioned paying for dates. Maybe they rarely went on traditional dinner dates.

I’m not sure I known what you mean. You mean someone who violates my privacy doesn’t want me to know they are a bad choice for me?

I have often thought over the years that not having social media (being active on facebook) has cost me a few friends. Social media does feel like it replaced the telephone save for your most inner circles and immediate family.

They would be severe for me but I am told I care only about the principle of the thing and not the immediate consequences, which is somewhat true. I had an ex hide things from me because she thought she knew that if I found out then we’d break up, so maybe that’s my source of bias.

I don’t care if my argument is popular or gains traction. It’s valid. Meanwhile your argument strikes me as a tu quoque and isn’t conducive to healthy relationships. Your experiences that have made you bitter don’t validate your arguments. I guess let me try to borrow some of your realism (for lack of a better word). Let’s say most men will try and lie to you and give you STDs (nevermind depression meds etc). Can you use a strategy within the guidelines of FDS that doesn’t involve deceit to vet …

Your health is important but there are ways of preserving it without compromising my morals. You don’t have to sacrifice either one for the other. It’s not like violating my privacy is the only way to find out what, if any medications I take.

Maybe my post title is bad because I say in the post that they are two different issues, snooping and lying, but you also make a point, both are possible at the same time.

If you sort by top of all time and look at the top 20-25 posts on FDS, about 40% of posts are arguably dating strategy related. I am dubious to even call FDS a dating strategy subreddit and I stand by my opinion that it should have been called WGTOW given its similarities to MGTOW (the motif of “men are trash, die mad”).

I’m a man. My girlfriend recently read the book and had me take its survey quiz thing and I was split between three: quality time, acts of service, and receiving gifts. I was surprised because I tell people not to get me things for my bday etc. Guess I’m just hoping they won’t listen and then I can be surprised or some dumb shit.

You say this like you don’t constantly generalize about men. I don’t care what you think constitutes an interesting life. None of your experience on FDS makes your opinion of what constitutes an interesting life any less of an opinion or any more a fact. You seriously need a reality check: your opinion is not objective fact. Other homeboy in this thread made me realize I respond to way too much of your half-baked bullshit and you haven’t had a single decently reasoned response to anything I’ve s…

I reckon you’re right. I recently saw a post citing People.com, a magazine I thought was defunct brain candy for bored housewives and hospital waiting rooms. Then they just shit on male redditors for playing vidya and living in theoretical neckbeard nests, never cleaning their balls. It’s paradoxical, these two groups of people love to hate each other but seem obsessed with each other as well. Perversely obsessed. They could maybe learn a few things from each other if they put down the pitchfork…

LOL no. The burden of proof is not on me just because you miserably methodologically failed to prove your point. Even if I did and did it well, you will never agree or be satisfied with mens’ answers to the question of what value men bring you (despite having a lengthy definition of HVM) because you’ve already decided the answer for yourself is simply “another paycheck.” Just stick with that, but know that you speak for yourself. If you think you speak the objective Divine Truth then you’re a de…

Imagine thinking a couple of shitposts on reddit is tantamount to peer-reviewed, published scientific research. At best you have a couple of small surveys with one poorly crafted and non-objectively framed question, a convenience sample that’s so far from nationally representative that it’s laughable, conversations that are in no way, shape, or form usable as evidence of anything. The survey you crafted is trash, was made in bad faith, and can’t be used to any end. The fact that you boast about …

It’s not ever very correct to generalize about this kind of stuff. No, they don’t officially hate men, but some of them hate men and will say so explicitly and emphatically. FDS has a separate sub for women who overtly exploit men via whatever means necessary. FDS certainly seems to like shitting on stereotypical low effort (LVM) behavior, and who can blame them, that behavior is pretty bad.

imagine a stingy man expecting you to risk your body in child birth when he can’t even cough up for dates? Sounds sooooo promising - I imagine family budgeting would be such a breeze with you . What are you even trying to do by falling down this huge slippery slope between paying for a date, having a child, and managing a family budget? You’re really getting ahead of yourself, even if you only want to ever date potential husbands and family men.

We call this inclination to solve your problems a “fix-it hat” and it’s been my experience that women wear them far more frequently. The fact that people just want someone to vent and complain to without being counseled just fuels my belief that everyone would benefit from a counselor. Your SO is not the place to cathartically dump all your negative emotions (emphasis on all).

Most people will say their personal experience dating women. I would add my collegiate and professional experience as well. I was one of 6-12 guys in a class of 1,100 and my professional field is 97.5% female. I was always approachable because I didn’t give off the “I just want to immediately fuck you” vibes (I was in a LTR). That’s what I was told anyway. That said, you learn a lot when you’re constantly surrounded by groups of women at their workplace. The amount of dating, relationship, and f…

There is never nothing stopping someone from losing weight. Everyone has obstacles to overcome. You don’t have to believe me, but I say this as a registered dietitian who runs an adult weight management program. Most recently, I’ve noticed my patients fret the infrequent feasts and binges while ignoring their everyday habits. I had a guy who went through six gallons of milk a week, but preferred to worry about his occasional snack binges. So, sometimes we don’t even recognize the significance of…

No, I should have offered some flowery, poignant, and elegant prose in agreement with your defense of morbid obesity. I should have produced such profundities as “men are shit!” I should have consulted my thesaurus. I should have served some dismissive snark instead of debating as is the purpose of this sub. Why bother making and moderating a subreddit dedicated to dating men? I’m going to guess it’s because you prefer to exploit them because you fancy yourself a kind of dark triad witch. Do you really think you will find a HVM who is also gullible enough to fall for your shit? It’s as transparent and evil as TRP trying to manipulate their way into getting sex. Even if you do manage to exploit a HVM, why do you want a relationship based on mutual distrust, exploitation, all while harboring a deep re…

Who establishes this standard? Social media? If so, I do not care. I could not care less if the man-hating cult of FDS wouldn’t date me, or if TRP thinks I’m a beta because I’m not lifting right now, or MGTOW thinks I’m a lost cause because I have a gf I want to marry. It’s such a paradox that well over half of Americans are fat (and the rest of the world is catching up) and yet maintain any kind of beauty standard. At the population level, it’s hypocritical. As for the individual who’s a gym ra…

No it’s not. A lot of people get stuck in the contemplation stage of behavior change, it is a comfortable rut. No need to shit on yourself and thus create further inner conflict just because you can see a blueprint but not yet build a house. The question is how to move from “I should” to “I can,” then “I will” to “I am.” Even then people have setbacks and it does no good to shit on yourself then, either.

Why do you decry video games as a destructive habit by definition? Is it the stereotypes about gaming or a collection of personal stories I can’t find in FDS posts? I see it as a common dealbreaker in a recent post and it strikes me as an oddly specific hobby to rally against. And just FYI I don’t want to persuade you video games are anything other than what you think they are, I’m not going to try to change your mind about anything. You (FDS) seem pretty set in your belief system and it’s not m…
