I was equally surprised when it all started going down how she manipulated the social circle, 1/ by heavily curating it in the first place (theres a conversation to be had about this) and 2/ then lying about who shes told about our situation, turns out shes told everyone. Then I have to play this delicate game of risking triangulating since nobody is reaching out to see how I'm doing or to get my side. The few people I have talked to, I realize are the real ones. The others are not.

Only separated and hiring lawyers at this point, but took the kiddo out shopping for mom today. She's still a great mom, and he loves her, so it's worth fostering that.

Working on grey rock mastery too. I have someone who likes to be a reactive abuser, so working my hardest on no reacting since the work they do to trigger it in the first place never gets address or any accountability there. Only thing to do is to work on how I react to situations and bring the rest to personal and couples therapy.

New neck about a year before our separation started. Fun times.

What does your personal therapist say? Not the couples therapist.

Mine is that I've been trying and working on myself but the goal posts keep getting moved constantly. To the point where the couples therapist has to check her mid session.

Key is to fight the cycle you get in together not the person. Good luck!

You can have hope, but get lawyered up to protect yourself.

Alcohol may have enhanced our fights but it didn't make me walk on eggshells.

Thank you! I find myself checking on it less and less, its good for my nervous system but I'm still learning to be ok with it in general.

Struggling with the same thing, enacting change on myself over the years just to be constantly met with goalposts that moved and situations where doing or not doing something would end up in the same fight. I'm right there with you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
