I'd say you would be an exceptionally evolved human being if you, after had the core of your ego poked and commiting to change your worldview as drastically as many trpers have, showed nothing but pure rationalism. And also it's refreshing to get direct and no bs feedback. Excessive contempt and superiority though is uncalled for, but why pay attention to that if you can choose not to?

Yes I do understand. I have come from there myself. And i'm glad that you find it helpful! I highly recommend the app headspace. The founder has a background in sports performance that I find appealing.

For a long term fix: practice meditation if you don't already and a technique called resting awareness. You probably use a very narrow focus which is not optimal in social settings. (Note that this is an advanced technique) You kind of already meditate though from what you describe. When you catch yourself the point is to resume to the object of focus and not linger in thoughts (i haven't focused is a thought) My short term solution would be to go all out "autist" or whatever you wanna call it. …

For me it's hard to answer because every book I have read that deals directly with self kindness have done little for me. I don't know why. I had to go through other "indirect routes". I think since this is so widely accepted (to be kind) no one investigates or is critical to the information given on this. So most info gives a twisted version of kindness focusing on short term gain that is actually harmful in the long term. I would agree with others here that recommend the subtle art of not givi…

You said it has surfaced to the top of your consciousness. If so it is because you are resisting something. I don't know what that is but I am pretty sure you do it because you don't like "it" My guess is that you choose this oneitis instead of yourself and deep down you don't like that. Your flow state is being broken by this undealt with problem (externalized as your oneitis) But not lost. If you can let go, you're back. If you can't you will have to deal with it. Given that my guess of the ca…

I have had the same problem a long time, so thank you for bringing it up. The answers was a great reminder. Although this doesn't bother me so much now it is better and that's thanks to the advice given here. I concur that kindness to one self and resilience (training) is crucial. Philosophically this helps tie it together for me: Don't want an easier life but to be stronger And To not be kind to yourself will result in you being unkind to others.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
