I disagree. I think it’s more the wrong forum. This is better for askFDS or somewhere else similar. Everyone is at a different stage and it’s okay to need and want validation sometimes. It’s okay to wonder if our intuition makes sense and to get feedback to help us make a decision. At the end of the day it’s ours to figure out but it is not a step backwards to ask for help or advice.

His worry when his GF sees that he prefers a different body type isn’t her feelings, it’s that he may have to deal with them. That’s all I need to know about this man.

LVM friends tend to only show up when it fulfills their white knight dreams of rescuing women or getting validation. They’ll come help you when your car breaks down, they’ll fix something for you, they’ll be on your arm to a wedding or event where you’re dressed up and looking good, or they’ll put in time and effort if they think one day you may sleep with them. They also treat you like they do their male friends which is using you for what you can offer them rather than making any real connecti…

Yes this exactly for me, too. I was raised to believe that I could not take care of myself or handle life without a man to help me, and that only a man could get me to a powerful place in life. I bought into this for so long, despite getting a masters degree, finding and keeping well paying jobs, raising my son as a single mom, pursuing hobbies and building a fantastic circle of friends. And still I longed for and felt incomplete without a spouse or SO. It’s so indoctrinated.

This is brilliant and so true. Also many LVM can mimic enough to keep a woman complacent. They’ll sometimes ask about our day if we’ve asked about theirs, get us gifts if we did for them, do nice things if we have, listen if we want to communicate and it’s a good time for them. This is all because the smarter ones realize that if they don’t put in at least a basic level of effort the woman will maybe leave or be unhappy (which to them only means they won’t be the shiny happy doll they expect). B…

It’s all due to their low self esteem. They only feel like a “man” if they are getting their egos stroked constantly by attention from some woman, any woman. This is why any sign of low self esteem is the #1 red flag for LVM. It creeps into every single area of their lives. Men with true self esteem realize that casual attention from women means absolutely nothing to their value as a person. I knew a guy who worked in retail and would see lots of customers a day and would literally use that as a…

The most healing for me is to take some time in nature without any distractions. If you’re able to get away for a week or weekend to a cabin or a beach or somewhere like that, do it! Make sure you won’t have cell service or turn off your phone if you do. Bring some books you love and maybe a hobby (painting, knitting, etc) and then otherwise spend the time walking and enjoying the outdoors. It will clear your head and put life in perspective. If you can’t do that much then spend a half day on a …

I’ve noticed 100% of LVM expect this, not just romantically. They expect their female SO, friends, sisters, coworkers, etc. to be fun and sweet and positive and uplifting and compliant and flattering and affirming in order to enrich their lives. The moment you are not this they complain about you being difficult, ruining things, causing drama, being a bitch, being emotional etc.

LVM are extremely insecure and self centered. That combo means they want to be worshipped and get all the benefits of a relationship without having to put themselves at risk or do anything that requires more effort than they feel like. So when you do the same it triggers their tiny egos and they usually respond with anger or ghosting. This happened to me with a LVM friend I made before I found FDS. Once I realized how much more emotional effort and time I was putting into our friendship I pulled…

“I value a woman who doesn’t expect me to read her mind“ — I want to do the bare minimum emotionally and not have you complain about it “Not looking for a pen pal” — I want to put in the least amount of effort necessary to get you in person where I can pressure you to sleep with me

I’ve pretty much given up dating because it seems impossible to find a man who doesn’t watch porn. Hell it seems impossible to find a man who doesn’t seem aghast you would even suggest a man shouldn’t consume porn as he pleases and then accuses you of being insecure or a prude. I’m sick of it and shall remain alone for life.

This exact same thing happened to me but after I’d slept with the guy. Literally we were sitting there after the act and he pulls out his phone and starts going through fitness models with no body fat on his IG and was like “this is the type of woman I like”. I was a very soft curvy woman at the time. The audacity of this trash man. Never talked to him again.

YES! This is a sign he is in it for the attention and affirmation of others and not for you. This is also true of the opposite—Supportive and attentive in private, but distant or uninterested in public. Or around certain people/groups. I had a guy I dated who was super sweet and attentive even when we were out on dates, except when I hung out with him around friends or coworkers, then he acted like we were acquaintances. Dumped that guy so quick. ANY inconsistency in behavior towards you is a fa…

This article is not journalism. This person is not a journalist. It’s such low effort and low quality I would be ashamed to attach a byline to it. There are arguments against FDS that can be explored but damn that was some lazy sloppy writing.

Exactly. How awful is it to be with a man who withholds or is overly flirtatious, etc. It can put even the most confident woman on edge. Even women with an insecure attachment style feel secure with a HVM.

It’s very important to notice how you feel AFTER you leave this person. Sometimes the infatuation or attraction or fun can make you unable to identify any gut feelings, but if you feel drained, in pain, or just off afterwards this is a sign this person is not good for you. Also trust certain feelings like jealousy. Women are made out to be insecure harpies but if you have more than fleeting feelings of jealousy and insecurity in your relationship it is because a man is doing subtle things that a…

I’m with you. Like the part where if he starts neglecting you or taking you for granted you’re supposed to go on a weekend trip and ignore him or go out all dressed up without telling him where you’re going so he remembers you’re worth it? Wtf? Hell no. I want a man who appreciates me without me having to play games.

I used to think I didn’t enjoy sex. Then I had it with a man who actually gave a shit about me and put in effort to please me and it was wonderful and enjoyable and I wanted it all the time. The idea of casual sex is exciting. Anticipating it. Fantasizing about how fun and thrilling it will be. Then the actual sex happens and it leaves you feeling empty and bored. Yeah no thanks.

This. it’s the girl he was casually banging and either he stopped it or she stopped it but they’re then using each other for validation, flirting and “will they won’t they” excitement. One of the two wants more, always.

She’s right, there is nothing wrong w a man playing video games. My HV brother enjoys an hour or two of FIFA a week. You know what he’s doing the other hours of the week? Working to provide, staying off the streets, cooking his family dinner while his tired wife naps, being coach of his kids soccer team, watching a movie with his wife, reading books to his children before bed every night, volunteering at his church, using healthy coping skills to deal with the stress of life, exercising to keep …

The ones who are obsessed with FDS are the bottom dweller NVM no doubt. The ones posting quotes, constantly stalking the sub and downvoting, DMing FDS members to bitch or insult, bringing up FDS in every other sub. There is something deep within them that is screaming at them to pay attention and see themselves for the scum they are and change, but they must drown that out at any costs, so they lurk around like the cave trolls they are.

The very best is blocking without any explanation—you don’t owe him one. No long diatribes on how he is a NVM bottom dweller, no spelling out exactly how he hurt you, no witty one liners, nothing. Literally all the time you have for him is the 3 seconds it takes to block. It’s the most satisfying 😌

Even women with an anxious attachment style can do perfectly fine with men who are emotionally stable and available. It’s the avoidant and emotionally immature men who cause women to feel anxious and like they need to somehow latch on more tightly. DO NOT ever get involved with a man who cannot express his emotions or uses stonewalling or emotional invalidation. It can make even the best of us “clingy”

The “it was a joke” defense is so pathetic. Jokes and teasing are supposed to be enjoyable for the other person too. If they aren’t it’s not a joke. Full stop. I guarantee his apology was something like “sorry you got hurt”. Hope she dumps his ass.

See I feel like there’s a sweet spot to find a HVM—mid-late 20s, early 30s. After that all the HVM have been snatched up and are committed to their families and relationships. I’ve just lost hope there are any HVM above 35.

Men who lurk FDS just to argue or ridicule are absolutely pathetic. They have no lives. I can only hope some of them are close enough to self awareness that all these messages will get through to them one day. The rest will go on pretending that it’s not their deeply stuffed insecurity and shame that makes them obsessed with us.

Are you using him too? Do you like the attention he gives you, do you still hope for some sort of validation from him? Do you like feeling like a good friend? If you’re saying no most of the time and he’s got more red flags than the circus why are you still friends at all? Have respect for him as a person even if he is a LVM—he is a big boy who can deal with a little rejection. He adds nothing to your life. Examine what you’re still getting out of this, though. You’re getting something (or imagi…

Emotionally mature people can recognize they’re infatuated, and while they may give in to it at times for pleasure or fun they will not start removing boundaries or rearranging their lives for the person. Infatuation seems pretty inevitable and has its purpose but you must use that time to fully vet and create a connection based on trust, authenticity and real intimacy that will carry you onward once infatuation ends. People get caught up in infatuation and end up with nothing at the end even wi…

I have been so guilty of this, and I cringe a little thinking of myself going off on friends or potential love interests with no respect of how overbearing it was. If you really need to talk or get advice or get something off your chest to someone close you can do it at an appropriate time and in the most succinct way possible. Popping off for 10+ minutes straight and repeating things over and over is exhausting for everyone. Journaling or writing a pretend letter is such an amazing way to do th…

This has been the biggest thing to increase my happiness, to work on stop judging and trying to change others. The only reason to want to change another person is an attempt to force them to give you something you should be giving yourself — comfort, love, peace, safety etc. It is better to leave them be and look for these things from those who will give it willingly and most of all from ourselves.

I fell into this trap with a guy friend. I gave him time, attention, support, etc that should be reserved for a SO and it drained me, because doing all that without having the commitment, reciprocity and communication is setting yourself up for misery. Do not give a man anything you would do only for an SO Cooking is a good one! Let the man cook for you instead. A common trait I’ve noticed among HVM is they love to cook to impress you.

Anyone who moves on that quickly is doing it for the wrong reasons. He was right and obviously isn’t fit for a relationship but instead of taking stock of himself and growing and learning he moved onto the next girl to use and abuse. Or he used that as an excuse to not have to put any effort into your relationship, or to move over to the girl he was already seeing on the side. No matter how you slice it he is trash. He will do the exact same things to the new girl he did to you. Count yourself l…

This is so true. It’s used by others or yourself to get validation, attention and a dopamine boost. I communicate with people over text but it’s for specific reasons or with a specific time constraint. I’ve fallen into the all day text trap too often and it never once enriched my life or my relationship with that person. It always is a way to put off doing some responsibility or keeps me from doing something I care about or sets me up for anxiety. Also it’s a tactic of LVM and other LV people to…

I really needed this today. 100%. When you meet men IRL there is a much greater chance you have similar interests and lifestyle. And you can tell right away if there’s chemistry and spot red flags. Something that has helped me a lot with feeling lonely is to realize that you can have connection and real intimacy with strangers and even people who are no longer alive. Like I can play a piece on the piano and genuinely connect with the composer who died 300 years ago. I can read a novel and feel connected to the writer who I’ve never met. This is what I find so disgusting about the majority of men. It’s rare to come across a LVM who wears it with pride and makes no attempt to hide who he is at first. Instead they all parrot the HVM, with varying degrees of success. But this means they know exactly what a woman would like and could be happy and enriched from in a partner, can obviously put the energy and effort to give that to a woman if they wanted, with actually minimal effort. The hypocrisy of men knows no bounds. They will have weird female friendships to stroke their ego, follow 100 IG models, mention every pair of breasts they see, try to make you jealous on purpose, ignore you on purpose, etc and you chat with a slightly attractive man at a party or say you’re going out and don’t answer their texts for an hour and their frail male ego absolutely crumbles. You point out the hypocrisy and they twist it cause somehow “iTs DiffErent!”

I have some sexual attraction to women and after this last LVM masquerading as a HVM I just tossed out of my life (after only a couple dates thank god) I am legitimately thinking of trying it out. I’m definitely more attracted to men but I do get turned on by women, and I’ve never really explored it.
