He wouldn't. Someone could guess some obvious ones. While it is possible to find out through social media followers or getting into someone's phone/email, it takes an extraordinary amount of effort and is unlikely to deliver accurate information in the end. You did answer in saying he didn't commit a crime. Maybe a better question is: What action was he taking by shooting her in the back as she ran away? I don't think a defensive one. Me being oblivious about a judge is in not knowing any information except what was shown in the short clip. This video clip very likely took place before an investigation was completed. If you aren't here to discuss the morality of his actions then don't respond to a comment pointing out exactly that. I was responding to what he said in this this 30 second clip, there is no judge mentioned. I stated clearly that they deserve to be punished for breaking the law. My original point is that the from of home invasion does not deserve a death sentence, especially when the perpetrators are running away. A person has a right to defend themselves, but the couple ran out of the house and he chased them down, that's not defense anymore. It's difficult to say you are defending yourself when you shoot someone in the back running away from you.

Whatever the laws say they should be punished for a home invasion in their area. Which are very often harsh. Renter's/homeowners insurance would repay the amount lost through a claim.

That's not deserving of a death sentence though. I think a your analogy would work better when it is something you could do to yourself: a good way to not burn your hand is to not put it in fire. They are breaking the law and deserve to be punished for what they did by the authorities, he deserves to defend himself until the authorities arrive. If you can't trust the system then this behavior is more common. We built this system, we can change it. If it's not working we can fix it.
