I think the most fair statement is that feminism presupposes that the inequality of genders tends to benefit men over women. I think it is very questionable to judge any movement based on what people are willing to say on twitter. This really only proves that people will say mean things on social media. Feminism is predicated on the idea that men and women are unequal in society, and crude stereotypes about both genders work at the core of this inequality. On a different note, people who believe strongly in theories such as feminism or Men's Rights might benefit from Narrative Identity theories. There are not adequate services for anyone, and why how can the US afford to spend billions of dollars on military equipment and a border wall, while there are roughly 500,000 homeless people in the US. Men shouldn't be made to feel like they have to be tough and cannot ask for help. That's the other side of the coin. Social services are just responding to the shape of society and trying to alleviate human suffering with very scarce resources. This presumed victimhood is hardly considered a benefit, because of the huge number of barriers it sets in front of all women. -7	Apparently Homelessness is only a Problem if you are a Woman. I assume there are so many battered woman's shelters, because women tend to be in positions to need them. That's not to say men are never victims of abuse. But there is a historical precedent where women were unable to financially support themselves and kids(legal and institutional barriers such as colleges refusing entry to women), but needed to escape abuse. Outside of gender, there are different kinds of homelessness--living in cramped apt with 10 people, pay by the week motel etc. People also face different issues, substance abuse, mental illness, escaping abuse etc. I think there are a large number of battered women's shelters for instance. It's my understanding that these orgs determine who whom to shelter based on these criteria, but facilities are either male only or female only, so they aren't in a position to discriminate based on gender. Also, the problem is overall lack of funding for the homeless. Is it the fault of these orgs that 75% of homeless are men? The crude stereotypes about gender at the root of much of the inequality negatively impacts men as well. They have a higher suicide rate also. I know that homelessness takes many forms such as having to live at a friends house because of violence or instability at the home of parents, so the definition researchers use is not only those who must live on the street or in a shelter. Is the criticism, female homeless are not at a significantly higher risk of rape and sexual assault? Or is the criticism that this established higher risk is not grounds to ensure women receive preference when these orgs provide help? Looking at the definitions in VAWA here, the focus is on what is done to the victim and they use "people" or "he or she" consistently, as to what constitutes rape, not by whom the rape is perpetrated.
