It seems like you're blaming men for this rather than society. Let me ask you this: who makes up society if not humans?

It's not an assumption. It's not feminist mumbo jumbo that men are perceived culturally as stronger. That has been a sociological fact for decades.

It doesn't work that way my friend. Only men are given selective service because men are perceived by society as stronger, both physically and emotionally. Besides, a term as powerful and meaningful as "second-class citizen" requires numerous examples to justify its use. For example, in the early 20th century blacks were frequently killed with no repercussions, were segregated and were forced to use considerably shittier social systems (bathrooms, schools, etc.) Japanese Americans during WWII we…

Oh my god. Men are not second class citizens. I'm a member of this subreddit but holy shit, that is very obviously not true.

It doesn't mention playing catch, buying him a trilby, or showing him how to lift weights.

Real nice comparing feminism to Nazism and racism.

Not to keep bickering, but where exactly are you finding these stories? I frequent all the gender/sex related subs and I've never read about a woman refusing to pay child support and not getting punished.
/r/MensRights04/09/13 09:57 PM

Well that's the thing. It's arbitrary (and decidedly immoral) to decide to sentence either party more or less. My point is its a more complicated situation than just "courts are screwing over men." I think that's something this sub misses the point on with a lot of issues.
/r/MensRights04/09/13 03:42 PM

I understand, and absolutely agree with you. But is the solution to sentence women more, or sentence men less?
/r/MensRights04/09/13 01:23 PM
1

Exactly. So if it's bad for father figures to be in jail, why is it good for mother figures to go?
/r/MensRights04/09/13 11:39 AM

Again, devils advocate. The courts idea of keeping fathers in their children's lives is child support. Not saying its the best way of going about it, but I'm sure it has worked in some circumstances.

To be the devil's advocate... The issue here is that it's not universal. You have to weigh the costs and benefits of a lengthy sentence based on the severity of the crime. Is putting this woman away for her crime worth the harm it would do to her children (lacking a mother figure)? Most people would say yes for severe crimes like murder. A false rape accusation, in the eyes of the law, and I'm sure most sane people, is a lesser crime than murder.

You can say that all you want, but ultimately whoever pulled the trigger is responsible. Rape is a horrible, horrible thing, and every party involved (men and women both) should do everything in their power to make sure they don't "accidentally" rape someone.

this isn't high school Exactly why people shouldn't be wearing fedoras.

This happens with men too, bro. It's not a gender issue, it's just a matter of people who have unreasonable expectations.
/r/MensRights22/07/13 07:41 PM

Well, to be fair, there's a bigger fat acceptance movement with women because fat men are already accepted. Fat acceptance is totally different from fat attractiveness.

Where did you get this idea, from sitcoms?

...it is relevant. If he had nothing to hide he wouldn't have lied.
/r/MensRights15/07/13 04:28 AM

So... why would Zimmerman lie about the amount of times Trayvon hit him?
/r/MensRights15/07/13 04:20 AM
-11

The injuries on the back of Zimmerman's head were consistent with one or two blows, not the several that Zimmerman claimed. Why lie? This case has seemed to me from the beginning like Zimmerman wanted to play cops and robbers and happily pulled out his gun the second Trayvon threw a punch.

Getting a little uppity, are we? The bottom line is you didn't refer at all to any specific time frame. I don't disagree with you, but you're doing a good job of making MRAs look like assholes.

You didn't mention "third-wave feminism" or "SRS" or "modern feminists". All you said was that "without feminism we could all be more equal". How can you expect me to be specific when you couldn't do the same yourself?
/r/MensRights03/04/13 03:02 PM

Actually without feminism we would not all be equal. I think you're letting annoying internet armchair activists cloud your vision of the real world; if it weren't for feminism women wouldn't have the right to vote.

Do you even know any feminists outside of the internet? My grandma (on my dad's side), my mom, and my girlfriend are all three feminists, and all three of them are absolutely repulsed by the inequalities that affect men (custody/divorce issues, suicide rates, etc.) Now you may think that this is just anecdotal evidence, but consider this: they are three completely unrelated people who called themselves feminists before any of them met any of the other two. They were never in similar circles of a…

Look, I'm a huge proponent of equal rights for everyone, but there's no way that feminism caused this. This was purely the mother's fault and she was using her phony "feminism" as an excuse to destroy two men's lives. OP if you are reading this... I am very sorry for your loss. May your son rest in peace.

Assuming the term MRA means someone who wants equal rights for both genders, then yes.

Again, the bare-bones definition of feminism is "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes". I think if people spent more time interacting with feminists in real life instead of on the internet they would find that most people who call themselves feminists are really for 100% equal rights, complete egalitarianism. Is that not also the goal of the MR movement?
/r/MensRights06/02/13 08:37 PM

Okay, maybe I don't know for a fact. However, if you talk to ANY woman outside of reddit or tumblr, the odds are extremely in your favor that they won't be batshit crazy and that they recognize that both genders have problems that need recognition. I think it's a huge misconception that feminism, as a whole, is somehow "anti-man". Of course there are different waves of feminism but second-wave is largely dead except on fringe internet sites.
/r/MensRights06/02/13 08:14 PM

To be fair, you're doing the same thing by calling it "feminist logic". I know for a fact the majority of today's women (and by that I mean those who don't spend all of their time on reddit and tumblr) sympathize with male issues.

The point isn't whether or not he can fight back. Most women in abusive relationships could probably fight back with a knife, but they accept it. It's like you're completely overlooking the psychological effects of abuse. It's not easy or even possible for abuse victims to fight back. The whole point of masculism is to break gender roles and create ultimate equality. All you're doing is reinforcing the gender roles that created the inequalities that have affected men and women since their incept…

Your "grow a pair" attitude is just as detrimental to men as the woman beating her husband in this video.

Of course I know what push-pull is. But not every single situation has to be gamed. When you see anyone, guy or girl, struggling with heavy boxes, you offer help because it's not only the nice thing to do, but it's the good thing to do. If you try to game everyone you meet, then you're reducing basic human interaction to just a set of rules, a mechanism.
/r/seduction10/09/12 04:14 AM

Absolutely agree. There's nothing wrong with "playing the game" but there is no reason to say something like that to a woman you've never met before.

My grandma is a rabid feminist. I've heard that when my mom quit her job to raise me and my sister at home, my grandma criticized her for not being an "efficient working woman." That struck me as being the exact opposite of feminism... I thought it was about making your own choices, not conforming to a lifestyle?

How is he bashing the subreddit? He's providing facts. At no point does he mention r/MR.

I think you guys are missing the point. His problem is with abandoning his friends, not necessarily AA. In any case, if you think you have a chance I would ask your friend first. I would think it's a bit weird if a friend I was with abandoned me to get his game on.

Liberal politics aren't expressly incompatible with men's rights. Just because liberal leaders tend towards feminism doesn't mean anything about individual beliefs.

Why wouldn't I be? They're HIS KIDS. He loves them just as much as any parent loves their kids. There is absolutely NO reason, unless he has a history of molesting or harming his own children, that he shouldn't be allowed to at least see them every once in a while.
/r/MensRights27/07/11 04:44 PM

Why shouldn't he have visitation rights? Just because a guy, for example, is attracted to kids doesn't mean he's attracted to his own kids. As a straight man, I was never attracted to my mother or sister. It's the same idea.
