In the page history, you can see that User:Geni went on a deletion spree, which has all been reverted. There's a couple other bits of minor vandalism visible there, including a proposal for deletion which was removed. I don't think this indicates any sort of organized opposition at all, just the usual level of Wikipedia politics on a somewhat-controversial article. If there's an imbalance in the general population, that's reflected. Denying voting rights to felons is a concerning issue, but it doesn't invalidate all democracy.
