Basically what you said was, you’re choosing to believe your interactions were successful because you want to think you’re more successful than you actually are. Instead of actually learning how to genuinely interact with people. That sounds more limiting tbh.

Plus, people who think they’re Prince Charming usually aren’t anyone’s cup of tea.

The fact that you thought introducing yourself was something ‘important’ tells me you probably didn’t pick up on the signs that the people you were talking to were uncomfortable and just didn’t know how to get out of the situation. It seems like what you’d call a negative reaction is what we would call having to take extreme action.

But I’m guessing now and then you’d look up from your phone and glance around the room, right? If someone makes eye contact during that period, then there you go. But the general rule is, if someone’s trying to look busy, they don’t want to be approached. Leave them alone :)

It means they want to be left alone. It’s not a test to see who’ll break through or whatever (and if it is, that’s not the kind of partner you’d like, trust me). You don’t force an interaction when there aren’t other willing participants.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
