After 2 years of expensive lawyer fees I stopped fighting over the last amount. Yes I suffered financially, but it was better for my mental health to stop the fighting and get on with my new life. Mortgage payments are bigger but you can’t put a price on happiness. Don’t roll over but don’t fight for every last penny, it’s not worth it.

Well done for getting through it all. It’s an awful journey and I, like many other men, never believed I would reach the light at the end of the tunnel. But we do it and we are better people for it. Enjoy the freedom of a new beginning.

It took me nearly 2 years to learn these things the hard way. I can hold my head high that, unlike her, I never cheated, lied or was violent. But that hasn’t helped my finances or access to my son.

You had a wonderful day with YOUR kids. That’s the bit to focus on. Enjoy that and everything will be good.

Yup. We all get called it. Don’t sweat it, it’s just the word of abuse of the moment. She called me this even though she was arrested for assaulting me and had an affair whilst she was pregnant. Men are the worst etc.

I guess you are in the UK? How did representing yourself work out for you? I’m just about to start this journey and wondering what to do.

“Comfortably miserable” that really hits home. It’s been like that for 13 years due to her cheating, but holding things together for my son. Now divorce is on the cards I should be happy. But I’m not.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
