Be an outside observer to your own interactions. Pretend you are watching yourself as an audience member. For example, if someone says something to put you down, instead of thinking "wow he just said that to me?" You could think "hmm, it's interesting that this happened, I wonder where it could go from here" I haven't really fleshed out this idea yet.
