Yeah it sounds a bit silly. I mean if homo is a bad word because it's not inclusive, does that make lesbian a bad word too?

I think that might be culturally dependent.

The word "homo" is only insulting to homophobics. Think about it. I'm not going to get offended if someone calls me "straight guy". Why should homo be any more offensive? It's just silly.

That's a common misconception, but many studies have shown both environmental factors as well as genetic ones to be responsible for homosexuality. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1743609515327211

I don't really understand what your point is here at all. I'm not arguing against anything you are saying. I'm not arguing about the definition of assault. I am simply talking about why women avoid things more than men. What you are saying is irrelevant. I'm talking about why women avoid doing things. I never said it was rational. Just that most women fear being sexually assaulted, and that happens more to women than men. I never ever said women or men don't get assaulted in other ways. That's n…

Well done captain obvious, thanks for pointing that out. I never claimed otherwise. That's all fine, but I'm just pointing out that when it comes to women being fearful of doing things, such as going out walking after dark, the fear usually comes from a fear of being sexually assaulted. Personally I wouldn't really care if I got mugged for my phone and purse, like I'd be a bit upset but I'd get over it. Obviously they are different and you can't really compare them but for me rape would be worse…

This is only true when it comes to physical assault. Women are twice as likely to be victims of sexual assault. Most women don't avoid walking at midnight out of fear someone might start a fight with them, it's actually usually more to do with the fear of being sexually assaulted. Thinking about these things causes stress. Stress is not pleasant, and people don't want to think about it. So, why would you expect people to worry about something like this and discuss these kinds of things with random people on the internet, when it has a negligible impact? They could just not stress themselves. How many of these topics do you think are worth doing that for? You think everyone should be on the internet talking about everything that's wrong with the world? Why stop at men's ri…

Why do you think that random people on the internet discussing the topic is going to have any impact though? I think making these comments has just as much impact, arguably a negligible amount more, than just forgetting about it.

For people in your second category, what do you suggest they do differently? What could any normal person do about this? And if you think it's bad for them to forget about it, but don't have any suggestions about what they can do about it, then you expect them to ruminate over this forever?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
