It could be the type of "people" in the country that cause this. If you have a certain number of "people" in your country that are killing each other and other people, they could definitely be linked to the large amount of gun violence. I think this is just a case of women thinking men want to date a man. It's comparable to women thinking their SMV can rise the same way that a man's can, e.g. through earning more money or acquiring certain skills.
