I agree with that part about implying she wanted me to "state my case", and this definitely ate me alive for a few days. But here's why I didn't "fight for her": It was futile. During the talk, she started to tear up about her ex, and in that moment I knew that this girl wasn't in any position to be emotionally invested in someone. I would constantly be trying to win over her affection when it still belonged to someone who doesn't exist in her life anymore. She clearly has to grieve properly and…

I agree with you on all fronts except for the part where you mentioned that I passed up a FWB situation, or that I misinterpreted her texts as a signal that she wanted to fuck. She definitely didn't want to fuck, and really just thought that I had a change of heart about being friends. I'm not speculating, I know it to be true. However, I do agree with the fact that I submitted when I should have maintained a stronger frame in those situations. I won't deny that. I guess the word "experienced" i…

Funny you mention this. You're right to a degree, but not with this specific situation. My first relationship was with a pretty emotionally broken girl. I had a subconscious desire to "fix" her, but I've learned my lesson the hard way. I'm not in the business of fixing people anymore due to it's futility. I'm not harboring any rejection of the facts regarding her emotional availability, nor do I want to "help/fix" her out of her emotional hurricane. I am trying to figure out the source of my obs…

I think this is pretty spot on. It's been over a year and a half since my last relationship, and she was definitely more into me than I was into her. So this new girl hit me hard when I felt such a deep connection so fast. How does one mitigate the inevitable infatuation, or at least manage it? All my attempts at moving on have seemed pointless. I have the will to keep trying, but it's driving me crazy

Luckily my actions exude more strength than my inner turmoil. I don't reach out to her, or contact her at all. At most, I say hi when we see each other. I'm really just in this self-exploratory phase where I want to find the source of this. I guess my medical background makes me diagnosis-based, which is sort of what I'm trying to do (while also possibly futile)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
