I'm not saying it would cover the entirety of the disparity just that it would cause skew if the figure isn't reliable. There isn't consistency on sexual orientation rates. and the they don't make a distinction between sexual orientation so LGB includes bisexual men. For this study if they rely on a number (such as 3.5%) to weight their responses, but the real proportion for any given age group is higher it's can introduce pretty large errors. It could be that men are more likely to consider themselves single in ambiguous situations where women consider themselves 'dating' There's no reason to assume any of this is true necessarily, but there's also no reason to draw any conclusion that men are dating multiple women. It doesn't say anything about straight men. The disparity could easily be gay men skewing the data.
