Im working on it and I’ve made progress. It’s important to know how but mores so, why. Why would someone be outgoing? May be that they are excited about the life they live, the hobbies they have and/or the work they do. Outgoing people might be more curious about the people they meet. They also might find it fun to discover new things about people they already know. This natural curiosity and enthusiasm for life shows through in the way they behave. Sometimes it’s just polite to keep up a convo …

I actually experienced this. Your post just reminded me. I tried shrooms in high school, and I was feeling a bit lonely at the time. At some point during the trip I had these flashes of recent memories where girls had not so subtly shown interest in me. One flash back of a chick coming to sit on my lap in the computer lab, another of a girl sitting closer than she needed to at the lunch table, etc. And it was like an epiphany saying “hello, these chicks want to get to know you” and I realized my…

Yeah, that sucks. I cringe at some of my past mistakes too. It helps to think of them as lessons learned though and in some occasions it gives me an example of where setting a boundary would have helped. As a result it reminds me how important it is to establish and keep those boundaries. When you’re out of your comfort zone, you’re going to stumble but we keep on keeping on. And make new fuck ups.

Company ink isn’t all that bad from my experience.

I think you’ll come across more natural if you know what NOT to do, and correct yourself when you notice you’re standing with poor posture, etc. As opposed to focusing on needing to stand or speak a certain way, which may make you seem uptight.

The “just have fun” part you mentioned really hit me the other day. Since beginning this self improvement kick recently, I wrote out my goals and an action plan to help achieve those. I’ve been more self aware in watching my thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors I want to change. These are good things because I’m staying disciplined. However, I need to stop being so serious and remember to have fun. Im gonna need some alone time and take time on some hobbies to get back to chill mode and get into tha…

Yup im aware of the holding eye contact thing. Now. So I’ve since worked on that. If I had to guess I think the avoidance is rooted in not wanting to make someone else uncomfortable or not wanting to creep someone out and somehow thinking holding eye contact is impolite. Also in my particular case I think it’s cause it was unexpected. I don’t typically think of myself as attractive but I’ve been working on my self esteem for a couple weeks now and it has improved.

Some recent examples: Was at a party, talking to friends, look over and notice a girl looking at me from across the room. We make eye contact and she holds it and smiles. Then I looked away and fumbled my drink. Later, I was in another group making conversation and she comes and stands nearby with her back to us, throws her hair back and looks at me over her shoulders and then I ran out of shit to say. There was another case at a bar where I accidentally interrupted 2 people’s convo. From the vi…

Same. I’ve been called a flirt and I’m surprised by it but then looking back I can see what they mean. My thing is I guess I’m caught off guard when someone else initiates the flirting or I catch them looking.

Man, same here. You described it well when you said “too much excitement to handle.” You catch a woman checking you out, make eye contact and you can’t help but look away lol. Or a woman is being flirtatious with you but you don’t know how to act so you try and play it off like she’s being friendly and end up coming off as aloof or awkward. I’ll be reading the replies you get on this one lol. We’re not alone.

That part about beating yourself up, hating yourself, and thinking you’re a piece of shit.... Stop that shit right now. You have one life, and your time is limited. During your brief existence you will only be able to truly depend on yourself and the fact that one day you will die. With that being said, you must CARE for yourself. Have compassion, respect, and love for the only person you’ll for sure live with until your time here is up. By reaching out for help and doing some research, you’re t…

In the past I’ve dropped 10-15 lbs just by abstaining from drinking anything but water and drinking a lot more water. Sometimes when I wanted flavor if squeeze some lime in the water or just a small splash of juice.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
