I understand that they're not legally obligated to stand by their pledge, but it happens anyway. You obviously hold contempt for America, or Americans, but that doesn't bother me. The United States holds the longest lasting current government, and although it isn't perfect, it's still a democratic republic and kicks ass compared to what else is out there. I know it's possible to win the election without winning the overall popular vote, and I don't necessarily agree with the way things work, but the popular vote in a state does decide which candidate gets the electoral votes.
