Yes actually that’s exactly what I’m saying.

I mean no, because I’m sure some people agree with me. I get what you’re saying and I’m already looking more into it but so far I still prefer to call myself a feminist. I’ll keep you posted tho!

I think pick-me refers to a girl who caters to the male gaze. I don’t think you could do that with opinions inherently. Especially because I’m not pretending to think something I don’t think. I also think that Nazis are very different socially than people who call themselves feminist, even with the whole genocide aside. I do see what you’re saying though, and I do think it’ll be very hard to create unity within the two communities simply because of the terrible things that have been said and exp…

Whew, lot to unpack here. I’m sorry about your experience with women and I’m in no way trying to endorse a presidential candidate. I also don’t think that we have separate problems. Men and women are like yin and yang, all of our issues stem from, like you said, double standards. The movements are more similar than most think, and I really hope one day you’ll be more open minded to understanding both sides so your opinions can ebb and flow. I don’t want everyone to think the same things as me, a…

Maybe it’s cus for a really long time men didn’t have it as bad as women so they decided to focus on that for a start

Your issues are all things I take seriously. Personally, I don’t think anyone should be drafted. Including men! Just because men are built with a tendency to be stronger doesn’t mean we should force them into roles where they have to be. I also agree about the legal system, and men need to be appreciated as caregivers more. However, this stereotype that men are worse than women is built off of the double standard. People think women are better homemakers, and unable to handle intense things like…

it’s cus women received the worst of it for decades and that’s why it was created. Doesn’t mean it’s gender exclusive

There’s a national men’s mental health day, father’s day, sa awareness day (not gender exclusive btw). I think people like to blame the majority cus of statistics like how most sa perpetrators are men. I don’t think that it’s men’s fault tho, I think there’s a lot of reasons why the numbers are that way beyond social issues. A lot to do with men’s mental health too.

I get this

I don’t think that men created their own oppression and I don’t think that men are responsible for it. I think everyone did this and we’re all at fault.

I abortion impacts the woman more both mentally and physically, but I don’t think that means men shouldn’t have a say. I just think that it should be something you figure out together, and the woman who’s pregnant should have the final say, but not all of it. As for the draft, I think the men and women capable of being on the frontlines should be. Disregarding gender, we should be drafted into respective programs based on individual skill.

Well honestly, that’s up to the couple. My boyfriend and I have the same views he and I always say something when someone makes us uncomfortable. We have disagreements on how to handle things sure, but we never exorcise control. I often would offer to let him have guy time, and he would do the same for me. What really is worrying for me is that some girls had to hide their votes from their partners and some guys only voted cus their partners threatened to end it if they didn’t. Both sides have i…

Thank you actually I feel like you really understood what I was trying to say. The duality of it all is important. I defined feminism in my post to get everyone sort of on the same page. I definitely have more to think about now and I feel similarly to you reading posts here. I’m another “lifelonglearner” lol

I don’t think I’m a good standard of anything, I was just sharing my thoughts. I’m also not trying to fight any battles, it was simply just topical. I think that there’s a very subjective way to go about fairness as well. Generally, I don’t think that fairness is something to be over concerned about. Lots of things happen that are unfair, the real issue is how to deal with it.

I see what you mean by that. I also think that there are lots of people who are extremists, and just call themselves feminist.
/r/MensRights08/11/24 08:44 AM

it’s still not the actual meaning of feminism. They are subsets of extremists and they need to label themselves as such.
/r/MensRights08/11/24 08:43 AM

Those are extremists, they’re not actually adhering to what feminism means.

Yes, men and women are different but they deserve equal treatment.

you do realize that feminist movements started with arguing against cases that were discriminatory against men right? Not saying that there isn’t messed up parts of the movement, I’m just saying they’re mislabeling themselves and they’re actually extremists.

Misandry is the response to the patriarchy, and neither of them are good. Feminism is a belief, you can’t change the meaning.

I think women should be included in the draft and everyone should have equal access to education.

pretty sure it’s neo feminism, the popular one just hides the “neo” part
/r/MensRights08/11/24 12:51 AM

yes actually. I’m a feminist and I’ve never once said that sexism is a man’s fault. It’s not, sexism that oppressed women is the fault of everyone who participated including women. On top of that plenty of mothers put terribly emotional expectations onto their boys, and teach them to essentially resent women starting with the most important woman in their life their mom.

It’s not incomprehensible, it’s avoiding the actual definition. The appearance that they associate with men as a whole is due to misuse not the words themselves. I never claimed they were strictly academic either. I just defined them with clarity, as opposed to your oversimplification. As far as media goes, you can interpret it however you want. After all, movies are an art form. The whole point of Barbie is that we all struggle and we need each other at the end of the day. Also, how does Star W…

Mansplaining is deeper than condescending, it’s about the gendered aspect. For example, if a woman is in a male dominated like of work, and a male coworker assumes she doesn’t know how to do something because she’s not a man and then condescends her for it. It’s not also condescending but it’s a jab at women’s skills. Implying that she must need a man to explain to her how this works in a male dominated field. I do 100% think the term is used incorrectly very often, but the word condescending ta…

okay so upon reading what you linked, you’re right, the group labeled feminist having warm feelings toward men does not disprove misandry. On top of that the whole experiment was done to prove thei claim so there is obviously bias. However, the study (disregarding its sample size/methods) found that the feminist group were more likely to view men as equals, and were often as afraid of men as the male partipating group. I wouldn’t say that this is inherently misandry, in fact if we’re talking abo…

Yeah that’s true I was just explaining a perspective as a generalization. Same goes for the opposite both genders can experience a want for justice based on individual discrimination. It’s just psychology, same reason why the sample group in the study was based towards a certain outcome.

honestly she could’ve phrased it way better. It’s somewhat normal to have apprehension due to trauma based against male/female. In this case she clearly was not ready for more social interaction it seems sorry that happened

Your journey will be beautiful, and leaving will always suck. Your former home will never die as long as you remember. Maybe even take a photo and frame it for the new place. Thank you for sharing your story about sv, and it breaks my heart how many other guys i’ve encountered that were in shock when I showed their story empathy. You’re strong brother, keep your head up.

Social media has lots of people with lots of preference. If you want a girl who will be a homemaker, you can find one. There’s plenty of chicks out there who would rather be a stay at home wife than work, and that’s their choice to make. Yeah there’s a lot of girls who want to be working and perhaps never marry, but so what? You’re not even interested in someone with that mindset. Focus on you and what you value in a partner, let the other stuff fall back and be white noise. Same thing for your …

There’s nothing wrong with you. Honestly if you’ve been running out of luck in making friends you just have to fabricate it. Think of it like asking out your crush, the worst they could say is no. I’ve deadass asked people I’ve known for like two days to hang. Just hit up one of your acquaintances and say “hey I’m looking to chill/game (whatever) with someone this weekend you down?” Bonus points if you bring up something they shared with you in class. Bottom line is, people love talking about th…

Study name? I think a lot of people who fight for feminism often have a personal reason too. Sometimes, and likely in the case of this study, they’ve been wronged by a man in their life causing them to reevaluate their social values. So yes of course the sample would be bias. Personally I’m a firm believer that anyone who calls themselves feminist and doesn’t address issues that impact men as well isn’t actually feminist. Per definition, it’s equality of the sexes, not just one sex. I love readi…
