To me, fictional characters can still be great role models; whether they're characters in books, religions, movies, even songs. Think about it, the great books of western civilization; the Bible, the Illiad, the Greek Gods - all contain characters and archetypes which were seized upon by the great men of history; men who did unbelievably awesome things. I despise the hollywood ideal of masculinity and I believe that it has contributed to a host of insecurities for modern men. Superheroes, action stars, etc. They're unrealistic.
