It would depend on the motivation. In my profession name recognition is important, so I don't think it would be unreasonable for a woman who's spent her adult life working towards that to keep her name or hyphenate. I think I would be fine with it, if that was my potential wife's reason. But if it was some "strong, independent woman" or "traditional marriage is a tool of the patriarchy" thing...not so much. Edit: a synonym for stylistic purposes.
