I used to be detrimentaly shy and self conscious. I was an ugly duckling too so a deadly combo really. My dad said something when I was young that helped me, he told me it was ok to be shy, but to think about how my behavior affects others, then he gave some examples like, someone says 'hello' and gets no response/a closed response, or asks a question and gets a closed answer, how they must feel. We practiced trying to keep conversation going. In the end I think I've overcompensated for this wea…

Thank you for your kindness and advice. I'm in a better spot now, financially, and am starting to find my style a little bit at a time. I'm trying to curate clothes that fit the style and look good, I'm a dramatic pear shape and used to wear whatever fit, but I'm finally starting to figure out a more coherent wardrobe. It may be illogical, but if I think about it, I'm a little scared of fasion and beauty. Sometimes when browsing for ideas I end up feeling pretty lousy about myself, like I need t…

If it was easy or important to everyone, I'm sure they wouldn't have issues with it. I was raised extremelly frugal, only secondhand, out of style clothes and shoes, no makeup, bad teeth, never cut my hair, never did skincare, pedicures, manicures or any primping things, I was taught to find my worth in things other then appearence. Sometimes I think that benefits me, I've known alot of really beautiful people who's self confidence is way lower then mine, and obsess and struggle with low thougts…

What does your SO have to say about this? She moved back, it seems like maybe she is trying to win him back, is not over him, or did he leave her for you and that is why she is angry? Odd situation.

Keep challenging yourself until the phobia is manageble. I used to scream, now I gasp and squash. We even had a resident jumping spider that I grew quite attached to he would hang out, only on the ceiling. He got thin, then dissapeared one day. I was surprised at how sad I was. I let him stay, because I really hate having fast spiders in the house, and jumping spiders eat other spiders. And they are slow and don't wander the whole house. My old self never would have done that, I've been challeng…

I think you are coming at this from a really mature perspective. There is no way for us to tell you if it's the right thing without knowing every detail, even then, it's up to you in the end. Is there anything specific besides age that she is concerned about? Any 'red flags' It sounds like she is using her own experience to give advice, and that's ok, but she may not be right. Most mothers only want to save their daughters from the painful things they went through as young women. The age gap is …

Its almost never to late. Keep working on your goals. Don't get caught up in regret or only talking about how you want to change. The biggest apology to a guy is your actions, not your words.

I think this is an actual condition. Seasonal affective disorder or something.

Usually when a person comes at this topic with that perspective it's a sign that a good look in the mirror is in order. Not to mention your questions seem like a sign of a more complicated problem. Fix your attitude and focus on improving yourself. It's too easy to sit back and write 'tons of men' off. Nagging exacerbates the problem, you can't control people. Period.

It can be very challenging, but depending on your issues, it can be a transition to a better, deeper relationship. You may be overly irritated at little things he does, like his clingyness. He probably hasn't changed, but suddenly it isn't cute and loveable anymore, because you changed, the rose tinted glasses start to wear off. Does your guy work? Does he have hobbies, friends and ambitions? Why does he need to spend every moment with you? Your life seems unbalanced, you need time to wind down …

You're passing the biological honeymoon phase, and these feelings are normal. Everything levels out into a daily routine, and sometimes you start to miss your old self. During that time you may have focused so much on the 'us' that you have forgotten to take care of yourself and focus on your hobbies and interests and friends. Without doing things for yourself life can feel quite desparate, when it isn't really the case. Or maybe you aren't telling us everything, and the answer might not be so s…

Focus on who you want to be, not on who you don't. The more you despise your mom and her life, you will find yourself becoming frighteningly like her. You can't change her, and practically you will always love her or have some part in her life cos she's your mom. If you are on the younger side, it's perfectly normal to feel massive shock and critisism for ones parents, if youth didn't, they would live at home forever and never make their own lives. Draw up a positive plan with goal cards, pictur…

Cut back on the snaps in favor of face to face time. If you want to be with him, see if he is able to make that effort. This will bring reality into the relationship, it seems like logistics are unrealistic, but the texting and snap world doesn't have those limitations. Snaps can make things closer then they really are, they also brighten up a day and take little to no effort. They are affirming, like getting lots of 'likes' on FB, and that can be a little addictive. It's hard to know whats up w…

Is it possible you explode rather then by judging the situation and using the reasonable amount of force?Matching the tone is the goal. I'm in a LTR, drunk guy approaches me on the street, non threatening, says 'Hi Beautiful how are you' Old me would stare daggers and hurry away then get anxious later or annoyed I didn't know what to say, worry about what he thought of me or feel violated. New me dryly, half smile: " good, how are you?' cross the street and keep moving quickly. No anxiety. Why? …

None of those guys respect you, joking around or laughing things off isn't a no to people like this instead they have taken it as an admission to keep going. They still see you as a chance and they don't take you seriously. Likely they even think you like it, and are just playing hard to get. Once respect is lost, it's really hard to claw it back. I'm not sure why you are worried about being cranky v.s. being cool. If you are respected, then you get both. If you can't make them listen, keep tryi…

You can't control people, being involved in her life is great, but if she gets a whiff of you trying to set her on a certain path, unless she really digs you, she will go the other way. Imagine if someone wrote this about you, then wanted to hang out, but in their minds they only had a weird intentional controling savior complex. The lack of respect would appall you. You can't fix people who don't want help. People need choices, by telling a kid what to do, you leave them only one choice, and it…

Thats some intense emotional convo material. Over sharing deep personal stuff like this without discretion can lead to a false sense of intimacy. It is similar to flirting, but it can also be more intense if one or both people are suffering from lonliness or lack of emotional support. It's unfortunate that he took this as a green light, but it's a pretty naiive move to take the conversation to that level with a guy. I would never vent with a guy, they do not process deep information like this in…

If I were to simplify what I like to see in women, and what I believe is the norm among most males, it would be this: I want to know that you are pretty. That's it. Dead simple. And how do you achieve that? By being soft. I had to think for a while to come up with the best word that encapsulates it all. It's "soft". The whole point of femininity is being a way that makes you look soft, that makes you look delicate and fragile and cute and pretty and sweet and submissive (as controversial as that…
